Atheists do not believe in a higher power. The big bang is just a widely accepted theory of the origin of the universe. Athiests do not pray to theories. I dont think anyone does.

Atheists don't pray, we know that nothing is going to save us unless it's another human being.

When I thought I was dying I did not pray, I just vaguely worried that I wasn't going to get to say, "I love you" to my Mom one last time. I remember hearing my self crying, "Mama" in an involuntary sort of way before losing consciousness.

Doctors and nurses as well as veterans have expressed that more people call out for their Mothers or loved ones than call out to God as they are dying.

Hardly. If I were dying, I wouldn't be praying to anyone, let alone to be saved from what is inevitable for everyone. Death's natural, so I'd accept it, not fear it or try to delay it with a desperate prayer. That's best left to those who believe in that sort of thing, not people who have no problem with the inevitable.

If I were dying, I wouldn't pray at all.

Why should I ask for my life to be preserved? It's a good life and I enjoy it, but that doesn't make it special or more deserving.

And after threescore-and-ten years (approximately) of not believing, why would I suddenly invent an Indescribable Something to pray to?

Finally, if such an Indescribable Something does exist, my prayers can't possibly matter to such an entity. If if really is in charge, then if it wants me alive I'll live and if it doesn't I'll die -- therefore prayer is irrelevant in any case.

No, if I were dying I would want my last thoughts to be somewhere along the lines of hoping I had made it through this life without causing any harm.

I certainly wouldn't pray to anyone or anything to save me.

It does no good to pray to anything. We all die someday, and it is best to accept it gracefully. Atheists are not weaklings who whine to gods or bangs. I can face life without mental crutches, e.g. praying to imaginary gods

No I gave up praying to super condensed particles of matter and energy years ago-I considered it to be as pointless as praying to a deity.

we do not pray and the big bang is not a god

No. But you see, if we prayed to the Big Bang, and you prey (I mean, pray) to God, I wonder if there is any difference in results...

athiest; when they live they believe in no god because it makes them feel good, that they have nobody to answer to and they can do what they want. but that's not the way it works and they realize that in the end. i'm sure they'de realize the truth and come crying to God for help.
