Night light and a radio might help. Or read him a story until he falls asleep. Sometimes if you keep the light on it can help.

Get him a night light, but also try to find out why he is afraid of the dark. If you can figure out why then maybe you can help. Another suggestion is that you could sit with him until he falls asleep and promise that you will be there until he is asleep. Then just turn the night light on and leave once you are sure that he is sleeping.

Don't know if this will help, but try associating some of his favorite activities with darkness. Or without him knowing you're doing it, throw it into a conversation he can hear you having with someone (or having with him) and say "the best time to play hide and seek is when it's dark...." or "I love the dark, it's my favorite time of the day" or something like that. With my niece, I always say how much I like the dark....it's when the moon is awake and the sun is asleep...
Get someone he looks up to...like a favorite aunt or uncle to "plug" the dark....think of some things that are good about the dark....write a story together about the dark (a positive one of course)....Good things about the dark....
Moon is awake, you can see the "man on the moon"...stars....count them together or make shapes....etc.
Hope it helps! Good luck!

Night light.
If he's afraid of monsters in the closet, try to convince him you scared them off. If that doesn't work, it's worth it to make yourself look like a fool for your little brother's benefit, right?
But whatever the reason of why he's afraid of the dark, the night light should work through thick and thin.
Just remember to put a good light bulb on it... You don't want it to fizz out and him to freak out.

buy im a really neat night light u can plug into the wall, u can set up a chart with prizes for when hes being a "big boy" can also get him a cool flash light and dont forget extra batteries b/c u know hes gonna play with it alot when u first get it for him. or buy a flash light and let him paint it and decorate it. make it special to him. dont forget to do the nightly ruetine of checking the closet and looking under the bed. it will help comfort him.

I gave my daughter a night light and a small flashlight that she sleeps with. Before I put her to bed, we go through her closet and look under her bed, I turn on the nightlight and hand her the flashlight. Fisher Price makes a platic flashlight for kids.

Get a nightlight for his room or do what my dad did when I was a kid, leave the hallway light on at night and leave his bedroom door open a crack so just enough light shines in.

the easiest way for that problem is to just give him a night light . You don't need anything fancy ,just something like a glade light show air freshener.
