after evaluating trial programs, if it is installed again, the program somehow identified that it has been intalled before. this means that it has left behind some tracks before. how to clear all these values so that it would not identify it has been installed before? the reason i need this is that some trial programs give too limited time to evaluate, and sometimes, before we actually get sometime to paly around with the program, the period would be over.
thanks

What you need is software which takes a snapshot of your registry and key directory locations before and after installlation. Then you need to do a compare (using the special software) of all registry entries and files which have been added or amended. Put them back to how they were before, and hey presto you've removed all traces.

Unless you do this it's like a needle in a haystack. I both write software which offers limited trials and do a bit of hacking. The above method is the only way to detect all the changes and additions.

Caution: do not amend or delete registry entries or system files you are unsure about - doing so will cause your OS to fail. The software I write combines registry values with system registry values - so if you just delete the registry entries you will screw up your system.

These trial are for a reason. If you want an extension - just ask - many software vendors will grant an extension to a trial licence.

Frank H has got to be kidding - You will NOT find a registry key called 'ABC Software' with an entry: 'number of days until trial ends = 20'. The people who write this software kind of know these tricks - most of them are the biggest hackers.

Click on START and choose RUN
Give in REGEDIT
From now on you have to be very carefully what you do because you could end up in killing your computer(and I am serious now)
Press the F3 key and a window will pop up asking you what you are looking for.
Give in the keyword(e.g. the company name, the software name) and make sure the three boxes(Keys, Values, Data) are ticked. Now press enter. The search will search through the registry and stop every time it find something matching to your keyword. Now you have to make sure that what you have there in front of you is what you want to delete by checking it's location and folder. This information is most of all times displayed as well. If you are not 100% certain just leave it. If you don't have any other software from this manufacturer or with this name delete it by pressing the DELETE key. When your done with this single key press F3 again to continue searching the registry and repeat the previous steps. Remember you have to be 100% sure that you know what you delete as you PC could really be useless if you make any mistakes... if you are not sure just leave it...

b4 you do install a new program or trial prog you should set a restore point using system restore, then if you dont like the prog uninstall it then roll back your computer.

ok your trial period of the software is up and you are trying to re install it , if the software needs a product code, it may be freely available on the internet!! do a search

You have to be comfortable with using regedit. It's a program that edits your registry and is available on your computer.

seriously- dont do it if you are not sure.
its going to go wrong if you dont know what youre doing
this is a warning- only edit the registry if you know what youre doing. and backup your important stuff before you do it anyway.
umm, good luck
