I saw some Muslim kid say

"Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from error. -Quran 2:256"

Children make mistakes all the time. They are very impressionable and typically rebellious. Some are drawn to Wicca, some are drawn to Islam, etc. As they grow, they learn, and often change their naive utopian assumptions.

When children under the age of 18 commit certain crimes, they are not judged as an adult, because it is believed that they are not educated or mature enough to be held accountable for certain decisions.

If a child who has realized that they made a mistake by selecting Islam as the "true" religion chooses to abandon it favor of ANOTHER religion, should they be KILLED, or given the same leniency as the man from Afghanistan who converted from Islam to Christianity, and faced the DEATH penalty?

note: they let HIM go because they declared he was "insane"

No one should be killed for their beliefs, Even if a muslum converts to Christianity, And if a Muslim does convert to Christianity, I will have to say that is the first step in telling the world that YOU ARE NOT INSANE, that is the most sane thing they can do.

Its is not in the Quran or Hadith to kill a person who leaves Islam. It is done in Afghanistan because it is in the law maybe or culture.

Christians are Christians because their parents are Christians, Muslims are Muslims because their parents are Muslims. The best of those are they who think for themselves. However if they converted to Islam but then went to another that shows they have not really been serious enough. Islam is open to all questions and situations, you can visit various website's and people.

In the early days of Islam a person converted to Islam and then he converted to christianity he later on ran into some of his friends who happen to be companions of the Prophet(pbuh) and they invited him back to Islam and he said no then they said their goodbyes and that is the end of the story. These are the first muslims and they learned directly from the Prophet(pbuh) ;they did not kill him or even threaten him.So dont judge Islam by what people say or what their culture does, judge it by the actions of the Prophet(pbuh) and he never killed anyone for leaving Islam.

According to most of the religious clerics, a convert from islam to other religion is liable to be killed. The man from Afghanistan was senteced to death under islamic laws and not the tribal or cultural values. During the taliban regime, preaching of other religion was also banned. Taking advantage of that, some foreigners were arrested and were tried. It was their luck that taliban regime was toppled, otherwise they would have been dead.

Very often apologetics claim that, Islam is a religion of peace and there is no compulsion. Yet punishment of an apostate in Islam is, of course, death penalty.
There must be freedom to choose any religion without been killed.

If you are personally not in favour of killing someone for leaving Islam, then you really should post your questions better. You have already had one removed because of this. No one should be killed for their right to choose which religion, if any, they want to be a part of. End of story.

as the man from Afghanistan who converted from Islam to Christianity, and faced the DEATH penalty? you said.

This is not a Islamic Sharia (laws). It is the cultural or the country's laws like you mentioned such as Afghanistan.
