how it is portrayed in these movies? The Excsorcist for example. Little Regan meddles with a ouija board allowing Satan and 'em to invade her body. Psychiatrists are helpless. The priests come and have an epic struggle with both sides essentially beating the crap out of each other.

Please, I know, by experience that some of you have a hard time answering the actual question, but it is fairly straightforward.

For example proclaiming that there is no god, would not be a real answer.
Similarly, expounding on the virtues of prayer, would not answer this particular question.

The Exorcist and most other creepy Halloween type flicks are fantasy. Reality doesn't work that way.

In real life, religious beliefs twist young minds into believing that they are "evil" and they act out in odd ways due to those beliefs. That's the "true story" behind The Exorcist, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and any other "possesion" tale on the market.

The idea that "God" created everything, including an all-powerful bad guy "Satan" whom he must then battle over and over again is pretty silly when you sit and think about it. Especially if this "God" supposedly loves us...

Yes, I do agree there is a distinct similarity between horror movies and the fight between good and evil. The two factions existed back in Biblical times and they exist now. Some might ask, will wars never end? No. Because the struggle between good and evil has never been resolved, and it won't because even though it's been said that good triumphs over evil, there is still a shipload of evil in the world. God has given man free will. How we use it is our decision. How God will assess it, is his decision.

No, not really. In horror flicks, you have evil on one side, and goodness on the other. There is a battle...of sorts... and one or the other are triumphant.
In real life, the lines b/w evil and goodness are pretty much blurred. What is good? What is evil? Is it relative from person to person or geographical location?

it seems aside from trying to create entertainment these type of movies have an underlying message...there are a lot of good horror movies that really delve into the struggle of good and evil, without getting trapped into the politics of the modern day

all horror type movies wether they r about war or rape or freddy krueger r about good versus evil in one form or another. even the most saccharine of movies usually has some kind of good/evil force in it. heck even the cartoons have them.
