We are going to take my wife's granny out for a birthday lunch and would like to go somewhere nice. We usually go to a pub called the dog and bacon as it is close but would like to go somewhere different this time. We don't want to go to Mannix Heath golf club (even though it is lovely).

have you tried The Barn at Alfold - I've been there for an evening girls night out which was great and very well catered for a large group - but I've not been there for a Sunday lunch - but it is a very nice setting with great good... the sort of venue Granny will love!!

There is a lovely Chinese place there but unfortunately I can't remember the name of it. It's opposite a big Sainsbury's shop. If I'm not mistaken, it's not far from the Dog and Bacon.
