I wanted the same thing, so I got a perm...bad idea. It sucks when it grows out, and eventually you miss your straight hair. Have you ever heard of scrunching? When you get out of the shower, put some mousse and gel in your hair, and use a diffuser on your blowdryer and literally scrunch your hair up into a messy ball in chunks, stick it in the diffuser, and dry it. Adding a little hairspray could work too. But this only works if you have some layers in your hair, and you don't have hideously thick or coarse hair. It also gives a pretty messy look. It's a good messy though. Very high fashion. Otherwise, I suggest just trying to curl your hair in the morning. It takes a while though.

Depends what you mean by curly. If your going more for a wet look, after i get out of the shower i towel-dry my hair & put a good amount of mousse in & work it through and then scrunch sections of hair upward to the scalp, then take some gel, (i like to use a little at a time until it gets how i like it) and scrunch it some more & then use a towel to scrunch it in the same way... ive found using the towel absorbs some of the product so its not as stiff & weighed down. i also like to blow-dry a little bit when im scrunching to set the style.
on the other hand if you want more of "drier" look.. i like to use a 3 barrel curling iron, doing small sections at a time, starting at the scalp and working your way down. it gives you more of a fun wavy look. i suggest using some kind of product to protect your hair from the heat & at the same time set your style.
hope it helps! :)

Perming and using rollers n stuff are sofecticated ways of doing it.... i could tell you one way to make yr hair wavy....this is temporary though.... make tight braids(plaits) with your hair all over and put a tight ruber band at the end. Then wash yr hair gentle with luke warm water-do not remove the braids. The using a hair dryer dry each of yr braids which you made by running the dryer slowly over each braid. Then remove the braids and you get a frizzy wavy look!

there are two options.
1. time rolling it every day. you need curling irons and hot rollers
2. permanent body wave. you need about 50 to 80 bucks once or twice a year.
