Yes, I think that your puppy is sick. I would take him to see a vet to make sure everything is alright. If you have a doctor or nurse in the family you could call them up and ask about your puppy to them. They'll know what to do as well.
Good Luck!

He may just be tired and not want anyone to play with him right now. Hr could have stuck a small pebble or thorn in his foot. He could have kind of twisted his leg on the walk. He could have bad knees, or bad hips. There are so many things that could cause him to yelp a little. When he is asleep and breathing hard, he is probably just dreaming. If he acts sore again tomorrow, I would take him to the vet and have him checked over good.

Gosh, it could almost be anything with a puppy. My take on it is to get him to your vet first thing Monday morning. I'd be knocking on their door LOL. In the meantime, check his stools to see if they are solid or runny and you may want to gather up a sample for the vet as well. Check his paws to see if he may have a sandspur or splinter in them.....you never know and then finally, I would watch him to make sure he is eating and drinking normally. Good luck with the little guy !

If you think your puppy might have something wrong please take him to the vet. That is the only way you will know.

Puppies often play hard and then "crash". I don't know what breed of dog you have. Small dogs are often more "yelpy" than large ones. He might have pulled something playing at puppy class and when he gets picked up it hurts him.

Take him to the vet and good luck.

I'd take the pup back to the vet. That doesn't seem normal for a pup. He could be allergic to some of the vaccinations. Or maybe even have worms.

Maybe he accidentally hit himself in the chest (ex: falling over) and so it's sore. Maybe when you pick him up, because of a bruise or something thanks to this, it hurts. Hopefully he won't mind again after a while.

if you are worried enough you will take your puppy to the vet.
