Ahem!
I don't remember myself worshipping pigs, and dogs to be exact. About the Snake and cow part...
It's believed in Hiduism that snakes are the symbol of the Goddess "Monsa" .
And cows...we worship it ,cause it's the "bahon" of lord Krishna, and also, we regard it as our second "mother", as many of us grow up drinking the milk of it.

Some Hindus do worship Animals, so what?

Some Christians cut the heads of chickens and eat the blood. (Santeria)

Others worship tortillas (In New Mexico)

The Christians I see on TV protest at Soldiers funerals (Fred Phelps)

And, some are mass murderers (I think the BTK guy was a pastor some place)

You are misinformed a bit ... Hindus don't worship the pigs and dogs. However, Hindu religion teaches to respect the dignity of all humans and other species.

why is this worse than worshiping an invisible god? and I don't think hindus worship pigs, a hindu can eat pork

From what I read and heard, the Indians believe in reincarnation, and that when a loved one dies, they come back in the form of an animal.
