That is SO not a stupid question!
Canned salmon is already cooked.
Here's a cool recipe from Cooking Light that I enjoy:
1 can of salmon
1 box of couscous (cooked)
1 can of artichoke hearts, quartered
1 small can of black olives, sliced
Mix everything together and add the following vinegrette:
1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon of dried dill (1 tablespoon of fresh dill)
Add tomatoes or red bell pepper for color.

STOP!!!! Back away from the can! Do not, I repeat, Do not eat Salmon from a can if this is the first time your going to try it. Go to a Restraunt and have it there first so you can be the judge of what Salmon should taste like.
Now about that can of Salmon, you have any Cats? you know those furpersons, low to the ground, pains in the ankles?
Here kittie kittie

No. You can treat it pretty much as you would treat tuna fish - drain it, mix it with mayonnaise for sandwiches, etc. Or you could make great salmon fishcakes (this would be my favourite): mix the salmon with mashed potato, chopped hard-boiled eggs, finely-chopped capers if you like - they do make it extra special - and a little parsleyif you have it. Mould them into flat cakes and you can fry them as they are or coat them in egg and breadcrumbs - delicious. m

It's cooked, but you can still cook it again in a recipe. My mom always used canned salmon in her salmon loaf. It was to die for!
I should make that again soon.

It's already cooked but go through it with a fork to remove the veins & small bones. YUK! Sometimes, they even leave the skin on. YUK YUK! Fresh is much better. I'd rather have fresh or none.
