You seem, you want to make a vedio CD, aren't you?
Well, it's gonna be converted automatecally after you make a vedio CD and copy the files into it. There you go DAT files, but not sure if you are trying to have a vedio file NOT on a CD, well, you've got to go to google in this case, and write down:- mpeg to Dat converter. and check the hits
N.B:- Not all the programs are good, some might need extra files, some are trial vesions, so you've got to get a password or something.

Hope that was helpful enough!

.dat is not a standard format, it's usually a specialized format that developers used to store data. The foratting of a .dat file can vary completely from one program to another. It'd be a good idea to give a reference of how you're trying to use the mpeg.

Use Nero and select the `make vcd' option.. it will convert the files.. in the output check out the `mpeg' folder.. the .dat files should be inside that

.dat is a VCD file format? why do need to convert that for? Do you need to convert it so u can watch using VCD player?

if you need to watch in VCD format, go www.download.com to find for a program.

or else, if you really want to change its format, go to start>control panel>folder options>view tab> untick the hide extension for its known file types> change ur file from .mpeg to .dat
