So a think of balsamic vinegarette dressing exploded in my backback
and got all over my digital camera
i imediately wiped it down and tried to turn it on
but it said 'lens error' please recharge
(my carmera works on batteries and therefore doesnt get charged)
I'd had the camera for about 6 months
is there a way i could get a new one usuing the warranty?
or maybe a way to fix it?
are my camera and I doomed?
thanks!
hillary

Is it Canon?

You could try using the warranty, though I doubt they'll take it back.
You could try opening it which in 75% of the cases, is not a good thing.
Best thing to do is give it to an authorised service center.

Hi Hilary, It could be that the lens or shutter is out of sync and needs fully charged batteries to reset itself . Failing this send it back to the shop it should still be good under warranty .
P.s an EXPLODING bottle of vinegarette ! ?. I'd be more interested in how this happened and sue the makers ,best of luck Paul.

I would let it dry for a few days, I've heard of dig camera get wet with water and be fine when there dry. don't panic yet

if you send it back it won't be under warranty because it was missed used, but they can repair it, it will cost you though, how much I have no idea.
