The Romans had lead piping and aqueducts around the time of Christ. This was live pipe, not just drainage.

The Qanat system in Iran feeds fresh water underground from mountain snow melt to the dry interior. They are essentially brick-lined tunnels accessed by vertical shafts. Some date from at least 2000 B.C, possibly older, and are still working today.

I believe it was the Romans who first created a modern-style plumbing system on a large scale. Not sure of the date but it was a couple thousand years ago.

the first signs of under ground drainage/water systems date back as far as 6000 bc. they were found in the Indus Valley. try the link below for more info
