I think I would go on record to say that basically "all" law enforcement agencies have random drug testing. I live in Arkansas and it was done on a regular basis to all City/County Police, and all employees.

Sometimes they are, but why should they be? Are you going to start testing Doctors, Firemen, Lawyers and everyone else who is a professional? Sounds to me like you are someone who already has a "beef" with the police or else you wouldn't be worried about them getting "drug tested".

The majority of them are honest responsible people who are trying to make a difference out there.

Let me ask you a question? Would you go out there and risk your life on a daily basis? I doubt it.

I don't know. I for one would welcome a regular and random testing. When I worked in the drug unit we were tested once in 9 years. But I think the motive was to catch someone else they suspected.

Most law enforcement departments, Department of Corrections, and other public safety departments DO have random drug testing for their officers.

The same reason teachers don't have to be tested, they are professionals. With the professional standards and training we have to have in order to achieve these positions we are smart enough not to use drugs unlike the dreggs of society we arrest and the off springs of the drugheads we try to teach.
