doesn't sound period related. You should see an internist because it sounds like something with the bowels or colon

This is a question to be answered by doctors. My personal guess is it's not related to period. The possibilities are you have hemorrhoid, and at the same time that part of your body has inflammation, this gives you pain, and cramp. Right before period the belly swells up and this could put more pressure on that part of the body which give you more pain and cramp. If problems persist, only way is to see a doctor, it could be something more serious.
In the mean time, you can try eat all the anti-inflammatory food like apple, oats, and stay away from sugar and red meat.

You could have piles (haemorrhoids). These are simply corrected by going to the doctor and getting cream and or suppositories, or if they are really large an operation. You could also be very constipated, you did not mention how your tummy works or how often you go to the loo. If your stools are mucousy you could have ulcerative colitis. You could have diarrhoea, and this could mean many other ailments. You should give more detail as to bowel movements and the frequency you go plus if it is always painful. The bowels can become perforated and you can become very ill indeed, If I was in your position I'd go to the doctor and stop asking questions, I don't want to scare you, but your health does come first LOL!!!

There are a number of different things this could be. Talk to your doctor. This could be a side effect of your period--you may have a cyst or something female related. Or, it could irritable bowel sydrome (IBS) or hemmorroids (they can be all the way up the colon, not just on the outside). It may be gallstones. Any one of these things. Do not be afraid to go to the doctor and ask them what is going on. That's what they are there for.

Do you think you might be constepated? I am thinking maybe you went to the bathroom a little and the straining is giving you anal pains, but you still have to go more and you are constepated which is giving you the pains in your stomach. If this isn't the case, you should see a doctor as soon as possible, just in case something is seriously wrong.
