...really depressed after quitting breastfeeding?
I feel really low and just stopped 18 months of breastfeeding four days ago.
Please tell me I'm not alone in feeling sad about this?

Yes. I picked a day to give up - my daughter was weaning herself off the breast and it was becoming a nightmare to continue feeding her. It was pretty sad when I gave her what I knew was going to be her last feed, but to be frank when I saw her wolfing down a bottle of milk the next day, I felt even worse - she didn't even miss it and she had been so addicted to the breast from birth! i suppose it was her first real step to Independence and that was what was really sad.

She still snuggles up to my chest though and even though I gave up breast feeding a year ago, she still puts her hand down my top for comfort! So once you've got over the initial feeling of "loss" (if that's the right word), you can at least congratulate yourself on giving her the best start in life and you've formed a bond that will never be forgotten by either of you.

That is only natural as it is the end of a key stage of your baby's life. A closed chapter...I even felt sad when my baby grew out of her newborn clothes. Think of all the new and exciting experiences you will have together now and in the future and that it is healthy for your baby to move onto the next stage.
Also think of all the good you have done for your baby by breastfeeding. Allow yourself a little sadness before moving on. Good luck

its a sad moment, your baby doesn't need you for sustenance anymore. Plus your are not producing the lactation hormones anymore, so you are adjusting to that too. Have a little cry if it helps
