As people have already said, cocoa butter and alcohol-free aloe vera help a lot.

Do you take hot baths and showers? Try having them a little bit cooler, because hot water can dry out skin. Limit your baths and showers to 10 minutes.

Before you get into the bath or shower, rub a lot of lotion, cocoa butter, aloe vera gel on the dry areas to protect your skin from harsh soaps.

Do not dry your skin after getting out of the bath/shower. Apply the lotion and creams to your wet skin. This will lock the water into your skin.

I hope I helped!

1. Make sure the lotion you are using is perfume free. That causes additional drying.
2. Don't take showers or baths that are too hot
3. Get a humidifier
4. Take a bath - add a bit of baby oil to the water. Dab dry- don't rub.

There's a number of different things you could try. If you have heat on in your home, maybe turn it down a degree or two. Drink lots of water to avoid dehydration. Get a humidifier.
If your skin tends to get scaly quickly, try a lotion called Pretty Feet & Hands...it makes the dry, dead skin peel right off.

I use baby oil right after I get out of the shower, then I dry it all off. Later I'll use lotion if needed..but oil works best for me.

Be careful with cocoa butter -- many people are prone to allergic reactions to that substance. Here is the dry skin lecture my dad gives his patients:

-take cooler baths/showers
-apply soap only to your hands, feet, underarms, and underwear area
-after you get out of the shower, pat (don't rub) your skin dry and
-apply a thick cream like Eucerin Plus creme or Cetaphil cream
-get a humidifier

Hope this helps!

cocoa butter...not the lotion....a good one is Palmer's..it comes in a jar and is waxy and helps a great deal with dry skin.
Also in the winter try not to take extremely hot showers. I use baby oil on my skin before I get out of the shower before I dry off.
Just pat your self dry and then apply the Cocoa butter...Works great for me.
this is the kind I use..You should be able to find it at your local drug store or walmart. http://www.etbrowne.com/products/Collection.aspx?CollectionID=27 Its called Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Jar
