I love Skim Milk... I have been drinking it for years.. I switch off every so often from Skim to 1%. I believe it is much healthier then Whole or 2%.. Next time you go to the grocery store.. check out the fat content in the different kinds of milk you will see a big difference.

1. For the same reason Kraft 'Calorie-Wise' salad dressings sell -- it's not too far off from the original, and every little bit of fat/calorie-reduction helps.

2. They prefer the taste, or are simply used to it. Most people, it seems, like the kind of milk they grew up with.

3. Different varieties of milk have different uses, to some extent. I am no fan of full-fat milk for drinking, but it's great for cold cereal; the more fat, the less sog.

4. Health-related restrictions.

5. I like the answer re. "30 times more fat than skim."

I'm no fan of it myself, but by such a piddling amount that it looks silly -- I buy 1%. Though: 1% 'filtered' milk, which was initially advertised with "Tastes like 2%!" (Unsurprisingly, I grew up on 2%.) But those trifles of per centages make a big difference in taste.

I personally drink Soya milk as I try to keep off dairy if at all possible. Those who drink skimmed milk are sensible because they are cutting their daily intake of fat, which can only be good. Some people don't like the taste of full fat milk either.

I personally find the full fat milk too creamy, I prefer the taste of semi skimmed milk. I think consumer choice of milk may be more to do with the creaminess of the milk rather than the fat content!

Skimmed milk is usually 1% fat. People think they get less fat in their diet with the lower milk fat content, but then go to McDonalds or other fast food places and enjoy fries, etc.

Because that is 3 percent per 100 grams. One cup of milk is 240 grams. That makes a cup of normal milk have 7.2 grams of fat which is a lot if you drink milk all the time.

Some people want to reduce their fat intake as much as possible so they buy skim milk which I find tastes terrible.

Every little bit helps. I've had to go from drinking skim to drinking 2% as a compromise between me and my boyfriend, and it's too thick for me to just drink. Whole milk tastes to me like drinking cream--can't stand it!

Maybe full fat milk has 30 times as much fat as skim milk.

Now you see how quoting numbers can make any argument look reasonable.
