Tips entered on credit card slips are often done later, and with other slips. It's possible it was just an error or a mix-up from someone else's charge. If you take the slip and bank statement into the restaurant they can refund the mony to you.

If they give you a problem, you can always dispute the charge through your bank, and report the restaurant to the better business bureau.

I've been through that too. You have a couple options.
First, complain to the restaurant, if the restaurant has any desire to provide good service to customers they will refund that money, and one would think offer a further incentive to keep your business.
Second, if they refuse to do anything, call your credit card company to report fraud. You will probably eventually get the two dollars back. The credit card company will likely contact the restaraunt to find out why they are initiating unauthorized charges.

Most of the time, when something like this happens, its because of a dishonest employee. The chances are good if you go back to the restaraunt and complain, they will refund your money.

Read what is written regarding tips on the menu. Sometimes the menu will state if there will be a secondary charge such as using ATM debit, gratuity, or take out order. Call the restaurant to find out. You can always request the bank take it off but the problem is that the debt is for food and that complicates the issue. Restaurants usually add a percentage when they clear the charge to give you leeway to add a tip. It will show up as activity, but the correct amount should show in a few days. If not, just call the credit card company and they'll look into it.

Call the bank and dispute the charge. Make a copy of the receipt and send it to the bank. They will contact the restaurant to verify the receipts and make sure you didn't make another purchase.

Always check your statements and call the bank or credit card company immediately to report a dispute. Most banks or credit card companies give you a certain number of days to dispute a charge, if you don't, you will be stuck with the charge.
