seems a waste of a good fresh loaf to me, stale bread seems to absorb more soup anyway

I prefer fresh to dip but stale makes good crutons

stale bread was made for soups. fresh bread is made for eating fresh. good fresh bread goes stale in a day so soup and stale bread is ideal for the second day of a loaf of breads life.

Forgot to pick-up fresh bread yesterday? LOL. I love questions like this, ya read right through them to find the real question. Stale bread made into toast is much better for your dippin needs, toasting brings out the bread flavor more. Oh and don't forget milk too when you go get the bread. Happy Dippin'

There are a lot of things you can do with a loaf of stale bread...
As long as the bread is not molded. You can make:
croutons- butter then toast then cube or
cube, sprinkle with seasonings and melted butter then
bake
cheese toast
egg in a frame- cut a circle in center of bread slice, butter then place in pan, put a pat of butter in hole then add an egg, fry, turn and fry till done. The cut outs can be buttered and toasted in frying pan along with the egg.
garlic toast
french toast
bread pudding

Fresh bread every time, don't even throw it to the birds, throw stale bread in the bin.

they should be no reason to use stale bread. if your bread is going stale then you need to eat it more often, there is nothing better than good fresh bread in soup, sandwich or snack.
*** and please don't use our friend the bread pudding as an excusse to use stale bread

toast the stale bread- as long as its not mouldy ( in which case you throw it). Fresh bread is better with soup- heinz tomato soup. And a fresh cream n jam scone for pud...

i dont think you meant stale bread as stale is no longer eatible you mean bread that is old and a bit dryed out ...yes you can slice and put butter and some herbs of your chosing and brown both sides in oven or on a grill ...i do it a lot for soup exspecially if i hve old french bread.........

I don't think so. Stale Bread tasted stale to me. Better to use a hard-crusted bread.
