The guy that I have been seeing for 5 months is going through a really really rough time. He is having problems with his ex with whom he has a child with. She has taken away his cell phone which was on her account and he fears he is going to lose his son as well. He does not deal well with these kinds of problems and is about to fall off the deep end. He says that it is nothing personal and he has disappeared from everyone else also. He said he will call me when he can deal with other things again.

give him time, it seems like he is going through so extremely rough time....just let him try to sort things out, but in the end he should come back to u for some comfort and support

you need to give him space while being true to your own heart. if you give him the space it doesn't mean that you have to go out and find a new guy to replace him. just step back and continue your routines, hanging with your friends and your family, and give him what he asked.
if he comes to you in a couple days or weeks and knows that he needs your support and wants you in his life, then you take it from there.
if you get over him before he comes to you, ready to start again with your relationship, then you let him know at that time that you can't continue.

When you truly love someone, you are there no matter what.
Do what you have to do, but make sure you don't get involved.
