i have 2 local public parks for bbq and swimming, but both have signs up that say no dogs allowed even on leashes. i dont understand this. i was hoping to take my new husky puppy to the park. but now i cant. I walk her 2 times a day(6am till 6 30am) and then 7pm till 7 30pm. on the sidewalks around my neighborhood,
was wondering if this is enough.? or what else could i do? she dont like to be outside by herself, she barks. and digs yard. tried that and this is what she has done. I cant run with her, i just walk with her. she is 6 months old. i have a full size basement for her. she dont like the rain.
anyone else with walking their dog to be around other dogs, and public park wont let you bring your dog to park.??
treats? I give her a treat for not pulling on leash while on walk, and give her treat for sitting. but how much is too much??
i give her a bowl of food in morning by 6pm when i get home its gone, does she need more to get through the night.??

....i don't know which one you're wanting an asnwer for so i'll try and answer some of 'em..

as far as walking a husky pup...they're naturally runners or active dogs. so giving her 2 half hour walks is probably not enough. try 3 or 4 times a day.

as far as being outside by herself, she's a puppy! she wants attention and love! give it to her! go outside and play with her, teach her to play fetch or tug-o-war. chances are she'll like chase better cuz there's more running involved but you should give her attention. if she barks that's why she'sdoing it. she's lonely.

the basement might be nice and all for when she rains but if youwant her to be an outside dog, you need to teach her that outside is home. to do that, don't bring her in when she barks or whines. it's like giving a baby a toy when they cry. they learn that crying gets them what they want. if you want her to be an inside dog then just keep her inside at all times. it is a lot nicer for them, after all.

my dogs don't like the rain either but the older one learned that rain or shine, the grass is the potty. and if it's wet...oh well! since she's younger, like my pup, you might try puppy pads when it's raining for the first few times. then when it's rainig takethe puppy pad outside (that is, IF she's USING it!) and put it under some shade and let her use it. she'll learn to be okay with the sound of rain. then after a few times of that, try putting the pad near the rain so the rain splatters on it a bit, and eventually move to completly out in the rain. then take the pad away.

i don't know what you're asking really in that next part but as far as walking your dog in a non dog park, there's nothing you can really do. if it's socializing you want her to do, take her to patsmart or petco to meet new pets. if youhave any friends with pets, make a "play-date" to take ur puppy over and let her play with the other dogs.

giving hera treat for not pulling on the leash is greatand all in the beginning but once you stop she's gonna be like "well i'm not getting anymore treats so.. *pull*" if you're trainig, fine. what you should do is when you're walking and she starts to pull, just completly stop walking and stand tall to let her know you're not budging. once she stops pulling, praise herverbaly and start walking again. the SECOND she starts pulling, stop. wait til she stops then praise and walk again.

as far as giving her TOO MUCH treats, you shouldn't give them TOO many or it might become a substitute for their normal food. try verbal praise or giving her a toy if she does something good. if she's just sitting there wagging her tail and looking cute, just love on her. they don't need food as treats all the time. toys and love work just as well.

your dog doesn't need food or water at night really. though you may want to try TWO meals a day and not just one. if she scarfs a small bowl in the morning give her another around 5 pm. if she picks at a big bowl of food throughout the day that's fine. though, i still think that one bowl of food for a HUSKY pup might be too little. try consulting a vet or someone at petsmart to ask a/b specific feeding. but i still stand bvy what i said before. a dog does not need food or water though the night. unless you keep your house extramely hot and they could get dehydrated, don't leave food or water in her cage/kennel or w/e past 7pm.

hope this helped!!

As far as when the dog is alone... toys galore! Try tying one up with a bungy... the dog will have its own tug of war buddy.

Socialization... a big must. Sorry your local parks suck. What about ball parks? (kids are cool) How bout a PetSmart or Petco? Family gatherings? Parades? Even a trip to the gas station gives more exposure to the outside world.

Ironically most unleashed dogs are off leash because the owner has no control of the dog, hence the argument "it's too hard to run with a leash in hand." Ha ha. You see, the guy got tired of being pulled every which way and looking stupid, so he lets the dog off leash, pretending to have control. It's very stupid, as if other people can't tell what's really going on. When I see a loose dog running around with no human by its side, I treat it the same as a stray. (Sometimes it really is a stray).

I would walk my dog up town just make sure you have control of your dog.I would also talk to the mayor an city leaders an let them know you pay taxes too.Feeding time is up to you,I like to feed at 6or 7 after walk or play time around 1 hour so your dog does not bloat let it cool down before you feed it an he will sleep like a baby.
