You already apologized, that should be enough. If you feel you need to talk to him again about it, do it. Or get him something small and nice, then tell him that you feel really bad for yelling at him.
Dogs greet each other with a good buttsniffing so it's natural for his dog to give you one because he wants to say hi. Even grosser is mebbe the dog wants you to sniff him back!

Chances are that the dog is trying to get attention from you. Do not give it any sort of attention for approaching you unsolicited. When you see it, look it in the eye and hold a treat above its head. After it sits quietly, give him the treat and pet him. After that the same hand motion will signal that he will sit, then you will pet him, that way you dictate when he gets to sniff.

As long as you are clean, try using perfumes to cover your bodys natural scent. I use this same technique to deter male dogs from approaching and continually sniffing female dogs... It works.. try Channel #5. Seriously!
