Bacillus anthracis, the causitive agent of anthrax, is a gram-POSITIVE bacteria.
By the way - the response from georgepol.... is absolutely, positively incorrect. Absolutely. For a comprehensive - and accurate - overview of the cause/effects of the disease, see the CDC's website.

The Division of Bacterial & Mycotic Diseases has a *great* website source for information.
Points to make:
Anthrax is a disease effecting primarily herd animals, which is also contracted by other mammals, including humans.
Anthrax is endemic to the US west. There are cases of it every year effecting cattle and bison.
The only acts of terrorism involving anthrax in the US recently are the ones involving the US postal service in Oct. 2001. There were some relatively minor stupidies involving transfer of it between laboratories.
There is currently a set of VERY strict requirements for the transfer of B. anthracis between any laboratories in the US - including a single institution transferring it between scientists. This regulation (the "Select Agent Rule"), which was greatly expanded following the postal issue in Oct. 2001 includes strict requirements regarding transfer, access to the agent, and inventory control, among other things.

Uh. Anthrax. Your not going top like this but originally anthrax was a disease that affected only tomato plants. And affects tomato plants to this day. No, anthrax is not dangerous in this form but is a disease that affects only vegetables. What I will tell you next you will like even less. Anthrax develops and breeds naturally in the air in polluted atmospheres of the USA. It is air borne. When pollution becomes very bad there will be an anthrax alert. People dying of it are probably suffering an allergic reaction. What i am going to tell you next you will like even less. A bottle of anthrax was found a few years ago in Iraq in a dirty broken down lab with all the bottles covered in dust except for one bottle. The bottle of anthrax was clean. All the bottles had Islamic writing on them except one bottle. The bottle of anthrax had Canadian English on it. The soldiers were walking around swinging their weapons unconcerned because it was probably a bottle of tomato anthrax (harmless to humans) from Canada. Who brought it there and put it there. Everything in the room was covered in dust and unused but only one clean bottle with Canadian writing on it. Did the CSIS from Canada, who love to lie, bring the bottle there??
