The Catterpillar 3126B and Cummins 5.9L are both very strong. Yes, you should expect more than 100K miles, with proper maintenance.

if you're talking about the international powerstroke, you should get many more than 100K miles. probably up in the 200's. Caterpillar engines are best, though. The big straight 6 semi diesels routinely rack up over 1,000,000 miles.

Good, most cummins will run 300k miles w/out any major problems. Way less problems than fords 6.0. (miss the 7.3L reliability)!
