I have a little Chevy Cavalier and when I go back home to visit my daughter (3 hr drive) I have to take my Sheltie with. I just use a rather large baby gait and the vet advised me to give him 1 Benadryl for the ride which does help. This seems to work out pretty well and a Cavalier is a small car also.

If there are 2, i could think of a superb built puppy cage for the lower back of the motor vehicle is via a ways appropriate. besides the undeniable fact that, those are costly (except you will get right of entry to a 2d hand one). i haven't been prepared on seat harnesses because of the fact, somewhat with 2 enormous labs, they are able to nonetheless get out of them. greater effective than no longer something of direction, yet canines must be carried on the rear of the motor vehicle, with a barrier of a few style between them and the front/driving force. and that they'd desire to be constrained so interior the form of a collision, they don't seem to be thrown around. We shuttle with our hounds of their domicile-crates. yet we've an belongings, and the lower back seats fold flat. i think of i could communicate this with your chum, and communicate what she thinks could be maximum suitable - you could prefer to make contributions in direction of a superb outfitted dogs motor vehicle cage?

Buy a car harness for the lab and a little dog booster seat for the chihuahua.

It will keep them in place and it's the safest choice for everyone.

not too sure if the mirage has a back area like that of a jeep or explorer but i would put him back there---if it doesn't --they do sell mesh nets that can expand to any width for your vehicle. I see these at specialty stores for pets or online---try drs. foster and smith website. wwwdrsfosterandsmith.com

Have you considered a seat beat harness for the big dog?

Pet smart sells a comfy one: http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441779741&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302036574&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023689&bmUID=1162140943413&itemNo=5&In=Dog&N=2036574&Ne=2

As for the little one, I put my toy poodle in his travel bag and secure it with a seat beat. His travel bag also has a latch for his collar to ensure he doesn't go anywhere.
