Most commonwealth countries have English as their official language, i.e. the language used in most forms of governmental communication, etc. These are the countries which were under English-rule in the old days.
As English is regarded as a universal language, several countries are now trying to make an official language in order to reach uniformity and allow easier access for international investments.

Official language :
UK and its dependencies worldwide, Ireland, Canada, Australia, India, New Zealand, Nigeria, Mauritius island, Seychelles, and most of the Commonwealth countries (its former colonial Empire) in Africa, Pacific... Hard to list them, don't want to copy-paste Wikipédia. In many countries, English is official with another language (or several others).

Primary language :
USA (which has no official language, but of course has its population mostly English language as mother tongue).
