I have heard that they are thinking about replacing modern english with old greek in the terms of technology, because it is said to have a more exhaustive vocabulary, and thus it would be able to cover all the meanings and procedures of the evolving technology.
What is your opinion of it?

Whoever thought that Ancient Greek had terms for "reboot", "defrag", "spambot", etc. is on drugs. All these terms would have to be invented just as they were invented for Modern English. There is nothing special about Ancient Greek, it is another human language with a whole set of problems on its own--irregularities, exceptions, etc. People think that just because Aristotle wrote in Greek it is somehow better than English. Pfft.

EDIT after reading C.C.: I'm not sure why you are so angry. I actually DO know Ancient Greek and can read Aristotle in the original language. Medical words in English are from Greek and Latin, of course, but computer terminology is from English. How would Greek have to adapt to the computer world? It would have to borrow its vocabulary from English, just like English borrowed a preexisting medical vocabulary from Latin and Greek. What's your point?

I have not heard anything about that and I really do not know if it is feasible for something like that to happen.

P.S. Taivo, u have not idea what Greek language is and u say u are LINGUISTIC PROFESSOR IN A MAJOR U.S. UNIVERSITY. And if it is not a special language for you, then go and find English words to use in mathematics for equations, in medicine for illnesses and use English alphabet to give names to fraternities. Oh and by the way, Aristotle and the rest of philosophers wrote in Greek because they were Greeks.
