They are not incompetent...they are just scared because they have their hands tied behind their backs by this stupid "human rights" law bought in via Cherie Blair. If they arrest a Muslim protester it turns around as a racist arrest supressing their rights to etc..etc.. and courts seem sympathetic to the scumbags....
The Police would wade in with batons weilding and rubber bullets but they are ordered not to....

No one said life was going to be easy...

They can't really do much about them.

If they actually arrested any violent or hate-spouting muslim protesters there would be screams of "Islamophobia" and "racism" from both the Muslims and the liberals and it would be all over the media and the police would end up being dragged though the courts.

So they just let them have their way. Its less hassle.

These people have got the country by the short and curlies.

The police are not really too incompetent but have their hands tied by politically correct chief officers like Ian Blair of the Metropolitan Police. The real culprits are people like Tony Bliar and Red Ken Livingstone who pander to a minority at every turn.

NO.

As for demonstration its a human right freedom of speech an all that crap. When it get violent it has to be dealt with.

However with all the civilian do-goodies and support lobbies it make the cops job harder and ties there hand well behind there backs. If any one is incompetent its us lot for letting it get this far..

I don't know about the police in other parts of the U.K.,but in my area they are completely incompetant, there was talk a while ago of them merging with the next county, how I wish they had, as for policing any type of violent demonstration; forget about it,they just want to protect themselves and not look after the safety and property of the public who pay for them from our taxes, all they are concerned about is their own safety,it's about time that we had some policemen as trustworthy and as caring as we had about twenty years ago!

New legislation is on the way. That Indian D.C.Constable, from London, wants demonstrators who cover their faces to be prosecuted. Hes also calling for flag burning to be a criminal offence. I thought violent demonstrations were already illegal. Making threats to kill, or screaming death to non-believers was punishable. Whats the chances any of these proposals will have on promoting racial harmony?.

I wouldn't say they're completely incompetent, they have their hands tied by those stupid dickweeds in parliament! I know for a fact that there are some coppers out there that would love to "police" violent muslims!

Does anyone else WHAT that the etc. Did you mean to type THINK but you couldn't?
Anyway, up until now they've had their hands tied, but now that order's gone out for them to liven things up a bit (NO burning of flags anymore etc) they might start doing something about them - and not before time either!!!
