Hi - I can understand how a mass of flesh could be considered alive by it's ability to do things (eat, breath, move, react, think and such). But how do you assume that there is a spirit involved? I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you but you seem to be making a logic leap here without cause.
What proof do you have for the spirit other than "it seems right"?

My belief is that yes, every living being has a soul/spirit. But according to the Bible, only a human being has a soul, because he can think and communicate and make decision.
I disagree with that, because we CAN communicate with animals and other living beings.
My dog has dreams all the time, and what are dreams but thoughts?
If I give her two toys to play with, she makes a decision to play with one.
If she has to go outside, she barks. When she's done and ready to come back inside, she barks again. Is that a creature without a thought, understanding or will? I don't think so!

No. What you call spirit is actually a complex physical process.
BTW is someone who is in a vegetative state leading a worthwhile life? His brain has stopped functioning but he is still alive.

It is not the "spirit which animates the body" that is responsible for life.

What is a living being?
Do you count virus?
Are you telling me every single bacteria have a soul?
In that case, doesn't it means that each cell shares a soul and we are made of many souls coming together?
Does a soul truly matters? Are you gonna define it in such a way that it is undectable since it has absolutely no impact on our body?

I thought the heart pumping the blood to the brain and all vital organs is responsible for life.
Man, I've been taught wrongly in school!

No. Life is just a particularly complex chemical reaction. Anything else is just fantasy.

What, exactly, are you trying to ask? Your question doesn't make a lot of sense.
Are you trying to equate your animation spirit with soul?
If so, then absolutely NO to your question.
If not, then you need to rephrase your question.
