The 145 was probably just court costs - normally if you fight a ticket and win this would be the only fine you would have to pay. If you didn't win your case then you are assessed the cost of the time you spent in court plus the fine for the actual infraction. If the ticket was dismissed then you shouldn't have to pay.

I don't know where you live but here in Kansas if you get a speeding citation you have to pay according to how fast you were going. For example if you were driving 12 over the speed limit your citation isn't going to be as expensive as going 20 over. The court cost for any traffic related citation (excluding seatbelts) is $66. I don't have any clue why yours costs that much unless you got multiple violations on the same ticket or you didn't pay for your ticket in the alotted time.

Ummm, I am pretty sure that the fine you paid in court is strictly court fines. Believe it or not, they make money by fining you yourselves. It's like a court restitution cost.
The dmv, is separate and have their own pre determined figure on what each violation will cost you. So they get their money separately.
Hope this helped

Typically, you are fined in accordance with how much you were going over the speed limit. Then. in addition to your fine, you also incur court costs, usually 100-200% of your fine.

The next time go see a lawyer, most of the time, it will cost you less and it will not go on your DL.. My daughter has 4 speeding tickets, and all of her's have went off as faulty equipment.. Now she is pregnent and has slowed down..
