Most uniforms in health care are gone, replaced by generic scrubs. Often it's hard to tell who is a housekeeper and who is a nurse. However, most practitioners (meaning doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants) wear a lab coat that extends to the knees over either business attire or scrubs. Labcoats that go to the waist only are for clerical staff and medical students.
There isn't engraved in stone, the best thing to do is check nametags.

I've never seen a UK nurse practitioner wear scrubs!
In hospital, depending on the department they work in, some wear their own clothes, and some wear a standard navy uniform.
In GP practices, most wear their own clothing.
