Mine does too, but sometimes it does hurt. I can not remember what the name is, my dentist was talking about it. I have not done anything about mine yet.

Sounds like TMJ. Both my Dad and husband has it. There isn't much they can do, but if you are grinding your teeth at night they can give you a nightguard that does help. Some people have it so bad that their jaw seizes up and they have a lot of pain. I would mention it to your dentist the next time you go in and see what he suggests.

Your head is a big hole filled with air and liquid. The cracking of the jaw is an affect of the two pressurizing, or balancing out. You probably notice your ears popping as well.
The next time you go to the dentist, mention it to her. Once a day is excessive.

If you've had the popping for over 6 months, it may not be possible to get it to go away completely, but conservative treatment may be able to eliminate any pain that you experience. (Although you didn't mention pain, so hopefully, there is none.)
By "conservative," I mean simple bite adjustment, an appliance (like a night guard or other), medication, physical therapy, or some combination of all four.

All the answers stating you will get arthritis are totally incorrect. There have been numerous studies done, and there is absolutely no link between cracking of joints and arthritis. The people who tell you this do so to make you stop. Cracking your joints is absolutely harmless.

This is not good. This may lead to arthritis of the temporomandibular joint (the joint of your jaw). You should see a spesialized physical therapist to give you specific exersices and you will be fine and no more cracks

That used to happen to me until I got braces. Sounds like you have TMJ. Have you noticed if you get headaches a lot too?
