I just saw some Muslim kid say

"and yeah Jihad wars are for Just reasons not for fun or for killing "infidels" it's because the Muslims were attacked first and had to fight back to defend themselves. what part of self defense dont people understand?"

How is flying planes into buildings filled with innocent people considered "self defense"? Were the WTC towers a secret military base that was made to attack Islam?

I don't get it. Help me out here people?

WHAT DO MUSLIMS BELIEVE?

There used to be two very popular views within the Muslim community, but today, one dominates. However, the view you mentioned is only held by an extremely small minority. You will rarely meet a single muslim who will approve of the attacks, even if it was defensive (that conclusion logically doesnt make sense). I have met many muslims throughout all of my life (probably more than anyone here, except if there are muslims). All of them had many, many views, but none of them ever accepted the attacks.

Recently after 9/11 occured, many Muslims outright rejected OBL as an apostate. These muslims were angry at him because he was giving the West (the entire world) a currupted view of Islam- a very bad image of Islam. They considered his views (such as making permissible the attacks on innocent non-muslims) extreme and outside of the fold of Islam- thus making him a non-Muslim. The muslims who supported this idea were many.

The second major view held by Muslims was that this was a conspiracy supported by the likes of Israel and the United States to justify the attacks on Afghanistan and later, Iraq. One minor reason, these Muslims believed, was because Aghanistan was the only country in the world that held the closest system to the shariah (Islamic Law). Note that this issue (of Afghanistan having a government abiding exactly by the shariah) is disputed between Muslims and the Muslims who agreed that it was the closest did not base their belief on the facts given to us by the western media, but by other media outlets. The main reason for the attacks, they believed, was because it supported an extension of oil pipelines which would save western corporations tons of money- an idea which the Taliban, the existing leaders, rejected. These muslims also believed that this war gave way to the war in Iraq and the main reason again, was oil.

MAJOR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE TWO GROUPS.

Most of the first group was listening to American, or western, media outlets such as fox news, cnn, etc. or reading American mainstream newspapers such as the NY Times, LA Times, or the TIME magazines. To any of these media outlets, and therefore to most of the American people, the word "conspiracy" was ridiculous and funny. Therefore, the Muslims who agreed with these corporations' news, had the same idea. I remember an incident when I was at a mosque, and one of the brothers was explaining to two other brothers the proofs for the idea of a conspiracy. The listeners started laughing, and said, "You're one of those people (nuts)!".

Many people from the second group were doing independent research, reading newspapers that were not in the mainstream or recieving newspapers from overseas. Reading more Liberal news outlets on the internet. Believe it or not, there are many documentaries that have focused on the conspiracy idea, and tons of more books have been written (they differ widely in their theories because of different facts)- Farheinheit 9/11 was far from the first one to focus on this idea. Most of the second group recieved their information from the people who were doing the research.

WHAT CHANGED

When movies like farheinheit 9/11(as well as Loose Change) started to recieve intensive media attention, people on the mainstream (the first group of Muslims) also began to consider the idea that a conspiracy was possible. It made more sense to them because the western media was reporting the news. Consequently, more Muslims began to believe in the second idea, as did many more non-Muslims. However, even within each of these groups, there are differences. Some Muslims see OBL as the west portrays him- a vicous blood-sucker and think he was the only one responsible for this. Other muslims see him the same way, but believe that the U.S (and or Israel) were involved. Other Muslims, most of the second group, see him as a defender, who despite having been portrayed incorrectly (they see the videotapes in the western media as false and complete forgeries), so he is a Mujahid defending Afghanistan from a crusade under the guise of a war for democracy. However, both (two) major views still dominate. I can't really say that one of them does over the other (contradictory to what I mentioned earlier)

What I have written does not neccessarily represent Islam, but the most prominent ideas that exist in the American Muslim community. There are many more opinions, but these are the foremost.

Im sorry for that child but someone has not taught him well. Jihad is a struggle within yourself. Its a personal struggle. I have jihad all the time. When you are defending yourself, you are supposed to defend through the pen, through peaceful means. Obviously the muslim govt does not understand the Quran very well or else the wouldn't be murdering or killing themselves. Someones gonna have a little surprise on the day of judgement. As for the american govt planning these attacks or not stopping the terrorists from attacking, I don't know but i have heard of these charges.
The only time muslims are supposed to defend themselves through physical means is in very serious cases. Even for that there are boundaries. They can't hurt women and children or innocent people. They can't torture the prisoners of war but treat them well. They can't burn down vegetation of the enemy because that would hurt the innocent people's source of food. there are so many other things that they just are not practicing.
peace

9-11 attacks are not jihad...I am a muslim and I feel sorry that people dont get this.

I mean: would I have to hate every american just becoz some of u kills mexicans in the border? I dont think so. I know these things has nothing to do,and is unfair to mix them.

Still, think muslims (like palestinians or people in irak) they do need something in self defense coz u americans have done little to stop this unfair war against them

U still think u are victims becoz of 9-11 attacks when u could not even imagine how many people have been killed by the american army...!!!! But sure one day u will find out what means to be the real victim here.

I don't know but I believe the Koran says, Love your enemies and forgive them who persecute you"...I know the Christian Bible says that.

If both Moslems and Christians don't start obeying their own religion, this vengence will spiral the entire world into self destruction. It smacks of the hillbilly feuds...you kill one of ours, we'll kill one of yours. Ignorance and hate.

Self defence is not the road any religious person should take...it should be forgiveness. If all sides don't learn forgiveness soon, we're doomed.

Could be many Muslim people believe the above statement but I'm sure there are some who are intellegent, loving and kind enough to see the falicy of it. The intellegent, loving and kind from both sides of this dispute will survive and the others will go down in a blazing column of fire.

9/11 was not Jihad. it was cold blooded murder of innocent civilians.

Jihad is a BATTLE of self defense. when your country gets invaded by foreign tyrants. then it's your duty to fight back and kick them out of your land.

that's what Jihad is. as for 9/11 that was not Jihad it was a terrorist attack done by political/religious extremist who want revenge from the US for whatever reasons. AlQaida and the US government have a long history.

The new Muslim tactic is claiming that 9/11 was either an "inside job" or "a Jewish conspiracy."

Muslims are victims of their religious brains: their religious brains are indoctrinated, from the moment of birth, by an extensive ruthless in-power cadre of self-serving mullahs and imams who are intent at maintaining their stranglehold on the rank and file of the faithful—their very source of support and livelihood.

The mullahs and imams, as well as parents and others envelope the receptive mind, feed it their dogma, and shield it from information that may undermine or falsify their version of belief.

For as long as there are bigoted, self-serving clergy and their collaborators with first exclusive access to the blank slate, the problem of supplying wave after wave of jihadis will persist

Antichrists are jealous of God's blessings on a country. America has received blessings of God.

So the Islamic terrorists try to terrorize people to convert to their own ideals. Actually it is to overtake America. The purpose of Islam is for the Mahdi to Come (Iran's President says) and for all nations to submit to Islam. There has to be battles & suffering to precede this to happen. So, to terrorize the public is one way to fight for the spread of Islam. Another, is to declare peace peace (even if to lie in false treaties, etc...) to spread Islam. That is what they are attempting to do right now.

Though, When Iran has nucler power, don't be surprised when nuclear dirty bombs get sent to terrorsits all around. The purpose (antichrist) is the destruction of Israel and America's constitutional religious freedoms destroyed and all submit to Islam.

I had another Muslim kid tell me that Muslims could not have flown the planes from Afghanistan to NYC and that Manhattan has restricted air space. In other words, he didn't even know that the planes were hijacked commercial flights. I wonder what media they are allowed to watch.
