Dandruff is the flakeing of the scalp. If you have it you will notice little white flakes in your hair and on your shoulders. It is caused by dead skin the comes off of the skin on your head. They make many different over-the-counter treatments including brands like "head and shoulders" and "Selsen blue" and they can be found in the shampoo section of your local drugstore. If these do not work I reccomend seeing your doctor to get a perscription medication to control it.

Normal shedding of dead skin goes unnoticed, but when this flaking becomes considerably large in quantity, frequent and noticeable then it is called Dandruff, or Pityriasis capitis, scientifically. Mostly dandruff happens due to some internal problems, or deficiency and is mainly a symptomatic disorder. However it also happens due to lack of hygeine, lice or even excess shampooing which causes dryness.

Best way to prevent it and even remove it is to shampoo regularly followed by a good conditioner. This cleans the scalp and prevents dryness.

Excessive dandruff needs to treated with anti-dandruff shampoo, one that contain ketoconezol or zinc pyrithione.

Adding a dash of vinegar to the final rinse also helps. A few drops of tea tree oil added to normal hair oil also helps. The plain old lemon juice rubbed on the scalp also helps keep the scalp dandruff free.

If your hair is dry, then use oil overnight atleast twice a week.

However, if nothing helps, consult a doctor.

Dandruff is a seborrheic scurf that forms on the scalp and comes off in small scales. In other words, it's a dry flaky scalp. Dandruff little pieces of your scalp coming off rubbing onto your hair. I was exposed for extended period's of time to a chemical called Methyl Ethel ketone and it ruined my skin so I was going to a dermatologist for a long time until he told me about a shampoo that changed my life. It's name is Nizoral and you can get it at your local Wal-Mart. It's a little pricey but it's well worth it! I use it as a shampoo and a soap and sometimes I put it on area's that are in need of it like a suave. It work's and good luck!

i can give you a very simple tip to vanish the dandruff from your hair. use daily the amla powder to wash your hair and do not use any sampoo and soap to wash hair within two days you will get the result try it it's my personal experience
