It's more personality for me - if you can't hold a conversation with me, make me laugh, or show / share with me something new, I'm not going to stick with you just because you look like a male model. Looks are nice, but without the whole package, they're nothing.

Looks are very important because its the first thing you see, attraction happens through the eyes but the personality plays a very important role. If the guy is simply just an airhead and has nothing going on in his head then he loses all the atraction, so yes, we, most of the girls look for both things in a guy. Even though there are cases where the personality is so nice that we tend to fall for the guy and with time we even get to see the person differently, even cute.

Both- I think everyone likes attractive people. You don't have to be the stereotype of masculine beauty, though. Often, a very strong feature can make you a lot more beautiful than bland posterboy looks.

As for personality, confidence, above all else, is HOT. Beyond that, the ability to hold an intelligent conversation and a sense of humor.

For me, the third component is music. I'm sure other girls have other opinions, though.

You knoiw the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover"?
I think it's a stupid saying (though it makes sense and should be listened to). because we all look at a person first and get to know him later.
So, to answer your question, I think at the beginning it's the looks, and later it may be just the personality. It also happens sometimes that a girl meets a not-so-handsome guy, and then she fall in love with him when she gets to know him better.
An equl dose of both is the best, though!

For me both matter. An awesome personality is a must. If he is a hottie, that is a bonus too! I definitely would not date a hot guy if his attitude sucked, nor would I date a guy if he had a great personality and was butt ugly either. Call me shallow but at least I am honest.

When I was younger, it was looks. Tall guys, dark hair, pretty eyes and nice butt. Then, if I didn't like the personality, he was history. Now that I am old...38...I look for friend first, personality specifically. I need someone who is going to treat me right, respect me and my beliefs and what I stand for. I do like looks though. I don't want a guy that I have to cover his face with a bag before I start bumping uglies with him. Probably a 70% personality to 30% looks. I do still like the tall, dark hair, pretty eyes and nice butt. And I like them guys from the country.

Well, it has to be some of each, but i wouldn't say an equal dose. I would say personality is more important, but you can't just think the person is hideous, looks is something.

For me personality is a must. Its no fun being with someone tht is completly boring. Throwing in the good looks isn't bad either but to me not as important as personality!

It is always personality for me. I have gone out with people that were not lookers in the past, but they had killer personalities and I fell head over heels. If they are sweet or adorable, or hilarious, or make me smaile...they have my heart. If they are good looking on top of that, it is definitly a bonus.

Definately personality but I also want a person who bothers to comb their hair and makes sure that their shirt is clean. They don't have to be gorgeous, just take care of themselves. Personality is going to make the relationship last, not looks.
