How do I open 3d game texture images?

Question

I found some image files in a 3d mmorpg that I can not open. It says they are not valid bitmap files. Yet I can see a preview of what they look like outside of the folder. These are the textures for the equipment and clothing of the game. What do I need to use to open them? I know it can be done. Ive seen it done before.

No cheap answers, or off topic advertisements plz.
And please don't suggest "irfranview". (I tried that one alredy)

PS. It seems normal image editors dont work, at all.

Hi!

Texture files are, usually, .png (Portable Network Graphics) files, and many image manipulation programs can handle them. Try AcdSee or Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, built in Win XP.
