It is good for you. It relieves headaches, stimulates the immune system, relieves menstrual cramps, and decreases a mans chance of getting prostate cancer. So yes because it is healthy for you, it is a sin.

Masturbation is deliberate self-stimulation to produce sexual arousal. During the bloom of youth, sexual desires become strong. Powerful hormones are released that affect the reproductive organs. A youth thus becomes aware that these organs are capable of producing pleasurable sensations. And sometimes a youth may become sexually excited without even thinking about sex.
But does not masturbation “deaden” these desires? No, on the contrary, as one youth confessed: “When you masturbate, you dwell mentally on wrong desires, and all that does is increase your appetite for them.” Often an immoral fantasy is used to increase the sexual pleasure. Therefore, given the right circumstances, one could easily fall into immorality. This happened to one youth, who admits: “At one time, I felt that masturbation could relieve frustration without my getting involved with a female. Yet I developed an overpowering desire to do so.” He committed fornication. Not surprisingly, a nationwide study revealed that the majority of adolescents who masturbated were also committing fornication. They outnumbered those who were virgins by 50 percent!
Masturbation also instills certain attitudes that are mentally corrupting. When masturbating, a person is immersed in his or her own bodily sensations—totally self-centered. Sex becomes separated from love and is relegated to a reflex that releases tension. A masturbator may also tend to view the opposite sex as mere sex objects—tools for sexual satisfaction. Wrong attitudes taught by masturbation thus defile one’s “spirit,” or dominant mental inclination. In some cases, the problems caused by masturbation persist even after marriage!
“We [may] find ourselves stumbling and falling many times over some bad habit that has bitten more deeply into our former pattern of life than we had realized. . . . Do not despair. Do not conclude you have committed the unforgivable sin. That is just how Satan would like you to reason. The fact that you feel grieved and vexed with yourself is proof in itself that you have not gone too far. Never weary of turning humbly and earnestly to God, seeking his forgiveness and cleansing and help. Go to him as a child goes to his father when in trouble, no matter how often on the same weakness, and God will graciously give you the help because of his undeserved kindness and, if you are sincere, he will give you the realization of a cleansed conscience.”

From Wikipedia:
Istimna (استمناء) is the Arabic term for masturbation. Masturbation may only be done in fear of committing adultery, nor is it preferred (either getting married and fasting is suggested as alternatives from hadith). It is totally forbidden in the Shi'a sect, but the four Sunni schools of jurisprudence (known as Madhaahib - the Hanafi, Shafi'i, Maliki and Hambali schools of Fiqh) have differing stances on the issue. Some consider it forbidden in all cases. Some see it forbidden in certain cases but obligatory in others. Another view is that it is Makruh but not expressly forbidden.
Scholars of Islam do not approve of masturbation, except in extenuating circumstances. There is a statement in Quran "And those who guard their chastity, Except from their wives (or the slaves that their right hands possess),- for then, they are free from blame; But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are transgressors. (23:5-7)
In Islam, sexual engagement outside of marriage (and outside of slaves the right-hand possesses) is a major sin, which cause the doer to be punished in this life and the Qiyama. Yet if one's desire is so overwhelming one might perform a greater wrong by having sex outside marriage, masturbation becomes permissible as a necessity but in that case it will be like eating the flesh of pig when no other food is available.
So Quran says "And those who are not married should try to live in chastity, until God enriches them with His Grace" (Qur'an, 24:33)
Masturbation, like any form of sex in which seminal or vaginal fluids have been released, breaks one's fast if performed during the daylight hours and requires a major ablution if any seminal or vaginal fluids were released.
According to Sheikh Hamed Al-Ali: "Masturbation during the daytime of Ramadan breaks the fast, based on the Hadith that a fasting Muslim gives up eating, drinking, and sexual desire for the sake of Allah.
Since masturbation is a kind of sexual desire, a fasting Muslim must avoid it. Therefore, masturbation invalidates the fast as does food and as it is one of the sins that if someone does it he or she would be violating the sanctity of this month."
Basically, Masturbation is forbidden during Ramadan, but if is forbidden in general is a very unstable subject.
Possibly verify, if you can, with members of your community, or family.
Hope this has helped,

I think masturbation is fine.
As an answerer said above, masturbating actually does have some physical benefits. It's a perfectly natural thing in my mind, although your religion may have a differing view.
EDIT:
Hey papavero,
I'd love to see those studies. I've always been skeptical about "nationwide" studies, especially on sensitive topics like masturbation. How many people don't respond to surveys on this? How was the question worded?

"I do it for the pride no longer ideas of alternative ladies or women." What's the joys in that? Think of Kim Kardashian or whatever. "Also, is masturbation unhealthy whilst your contain in marriage and you are doing it for the pride handiest no longer different lady?" Masturbation is excellent in or out of marriage. I propose masturbation a couple of occasions per week. To my eyes, instructing youngsters that masturbation will ship them to hell is abusive and evil. Maybe it is time to use the church teachings that you'll use and go away the leisure. They name it cafeteria Catholic, which is supposed as an insult, however I believe it is shrewd.

There is no such thing as sin. You need to discard your long-outdated religious belief system and join the real world. Gods are imaginary and morality is a matter of personal subjective judgment. As far as I can see, there's absolutely nothing morally wrong with masturbation.

If your thinking it's wrong maybe God is trying to convict you from doing it. This is a great conterversy and I am not sure about what your religion stance on it. I would continue doing it but in private. and don't say you do it in front of people.

I'm not sure on what your religions stand is on this, but if it is anything like christianity, it is a sin. However, in my opinion, it is not. Having sexual urges is normal, and indulging in them in the privacy of your own home is absolutely fine.
