just because you believe that you feel you have the one true faith .. or the one true prophet .. or the one true belief system
does not invalidate others who are of the same belief about theirs

doesnt it make you think perhaps that everyone holds an element of truth ?
or that maybe ... just maybe ... no one has it right , not even you ?

please dont belittle others faiths when they all feel as strongly about theirs as you do about yours

I don't have a faith, though I do have an idea. What's more, that idea explains why others do have faiths, and places theirs and mine on equal footing.

The question is to what extent a faith and a Religious organisation are tied together? Can I oppose the latter while accepting the former as a possibility? It is certainly difficult to do so while the latter holds a monopoly on the former, and I would certainly like to encourage people to question their memberships of certain social groups, regardless of what they believe or feel.

I saw a book cover the other day and I wish I knew where I could get a copy. The book was called something like, "There are many paths, but only one truth." The cover was decorated with the symbols of many religions. That thought echoes my belief that there is no one way to find god.

Every faith holds some truth, some smaller piece of the bigger picture. It is only by rising above the concept of dogma that one can realize this. We are all climbing the same mountain, we are just taking different paths. The closer one comes to the top, the more evident this becomse...

If i thought a faith had any element of truth i would respect it. That takes out the Judaism, Christianity and Islam, because I know that their creator god is not possible. If anything I can respect a religion that worships nature. If there is a god it is nature, it is therefore not a concious god who needs to be worshipped.

Sure, there is an element of truth in everything. I don't condemn anyone on the basis of their belief or non belief. I do condemn the persons who hold guns to the heads of people in the world and tell them to accept what they say is the truth or die. Don't threaten me with that crap.

Let God be true but every man a liar. Let God reveal Himself. Until He does, men make up their own ideas.

The question is now, has God revealed himself? Even if He has, those that have not received that revelation will still go on in their own ideas.

That revelation of God does invalidate all other ideas.

Limited, common, knowledge of God can be derived from observation of His creation.

The true knowledge of God can only be received from revelation, since God hides Himself.

Revelation from Him must, by definition, be personal. Once that truth is received, then, of course, all the other ideas, the counterfeit, become apparent for what they are.

After revelation from God Himself, it makes it extremely hard, logically impossible, to adopt your position.

Here's a test to help you answer your question.

Place an object in a dark room. Only YOU know the color of that object.

You have ten people enter the room, one at a time.

As the first person approaches, you tell him/her the color of the object. You then have someone else take YOUR place at the door (who knows the color of the object, but wants to deceive and confuse).

For the rest of the people, replacement gatekeeper alternates. One he tells a color to (different guess each time). One he doesn't say anything at all about the color.

Once they're all in there, tell them that the only way back out the door is to tell you the correct color of the object. Tell them that they will have one opportunity to give you the answer (the color). Give them time to discuss the issue at length.

The ones who were told a color will BELIEVE (in spite of reality) they know the correct color. Some will believe one or two of these "believers" based upon how certain that person appears. Some won't believe at all saying you have to turn on a light in order to know ("proof").

Sincerity of belief won't matter when the person reaches the door. Even if that person has just a tiny amount of FAITH in the correct color, they pass thru the door. The person with absolute, and wrong, faith won't pass. Of course, the person requiring proof is stuck.

There is but one true God. He has given us the knowledge of salvation of our eternal soul (His Son, Jesus). He has given us free will to make a decision. We can listen to Him, or we can listen to false gods and deceivers.

Listen Pangel These beliefs and Belief systems are what people are getting murdered for everyday how can that be right?
The only thing we should be believing in is Mother nature since it's the only thing we know to be true and it houses us all...

belief and reality are two seperate things

belief is an image in your mind of reality
nothing more, nothing less
a belief thus will never be reality

further, having studied all the great religions, generally under masters of leaders within them

they all contain the same teachings, definitely

though the interpreters of them
all interperate these in different ways

I agree. I would suggest that: there is one God, common to all people, and that all the different religions of the world are attempts to interpret and understand God. If your particular religion (not you the Q asker, but anyone) causes you to feel fear and hate towards other people, then you should consider changing your beliefs. God and spirituality are the means to heal, and feel better about other people. We all have a choice.
