Because if I have to walk into a gas station to get cigarettes and the cashier can't understand me, I'm gonna get right pissed off. And if you refuse to talk to us, if you refuse to assimilate, well then get the hell out, this is my country, you don't make the rules

Proper question is: Why do you want us to learn Engligh? Did is past tense. English should be capitalized.
But, guess I should be happy that you knew as much as you did.
To answer your question - in the good ole USA we speak English!! Yes we have other immigrants who came to this country, but unlike you, they adjusted to the American way of life, became US Citizens and learned to speak English!!
I speak German with my Mom all the time. She is from Germany and is proud of it, but she did the things i just mentioned.
Now let me ask you some questions:
1) Why do we have TV/radio stations in Spanish when all the other immigrants who came to this country, don't have them because you don't speak English??
2) Why do schools, police departments, hospitals, etc. have to spend money that they can use elsewhere to teach Spanish to their employees becuase you don't speak English??
3) Why do web sites, have links to translate their web sites to Spanish, and not other languages for all the other immigrants because you don't speak English??
4) When calling any company or financial institution, why do I have to hear an automated system telling me to "Press 1 for English, Press 2 for Spanish " because you don't speak Enlgish??
5) Why don't you spend 1/2 the time you do complaining and actually become a US Citizen
As far as your other question - "Most of us don't talk to you?" (not even a question by the way) - my answer is Thank Goodness

If you are an illegal alien ,then I don't care what language you speak. You don't matter because you are ILLEGAL.Most legal Americans try to learn English because it helps them to assimilate into the American society more quickly..My ancestors came here in 1702 from Germany, the elders of the family order all of the family to learn to speak English as quickly as they could. They were forbidden by the leaders of the family from speaking German even at home. While I think that was a bit harsh,it was a necessity back then,They were merchants and had to interact with the people already here in this then,New World.
English is the language of big business, its the language of power and money. Why wouldn't you want to learn it.
I speak Spanish and several other languages.Cant you learn too ?

If you are in the USA you need to learn to speak English. In order to be able to work, all business is conducted in the English Language here, and you will not be able to get anywhere without using the English Language. We have classes for non English speaking people that have come in recently. If you insist on speaking the Language of your Home country, you may do this at home with your family. Or if you prefer, you may return to your country of origin where your language is spoken . The choice is yours to make.

This is the United States. We speak the English language here, and have since the birth of our country. When a person decides to live and/or work in the United States their life is much easier when they learn our language. People who refuse to assimilate into the culture of the United States struggle along and will not have as much success they'd hoped to find.
U.S. taxpayers are overwhelmed by the tax-burden we endure to provide for non-English speaking people living and working in our country. We expect our State Dept. and Immigration Services to be multi-lingual, however, after a person chooses to become 'one of us' that person needs to assimilate into our society. That means learning our language and abiding by our laws.
Our biggest problem with non-conformists comes from Mexico. Too many mexican citizens who arrive into the United States are under the impression they don't need to assimilate or follow our laws. More often than not mexican citizens come here under the radar and, because of that, we are seeing a resurgence of numberous dread diseases that have been wiped out of the U.S. for decades. People who immigrate to the U.S. from other countries are required to have certain immunizations and take an Intensive English Language course.

Anyone who is living in a foreign country (US or otherwise) should be able to speak the native language. It makes life easier.
If I decide to become a permanent resident of, say France and don't speak French, the French government bears no responsibility to help me by putting documents in English.

if your typing and know some English that means you have used are education system.
we can barely understand you now, can you imagine, if you only knew Spanish. you wouldn't be able to communicate with us at all.
you need to be legal and if you aren't legal you need to go back to your country and apply for American citizenship the right way the LEGAL way!

Not talking to us makes us very happy. We want you to learn English so we don't have to spend our tax dollars on all these Spanish services.
