I am suffering from Plantar Fascitis since two months ago and seems the doctor doesn't find the right treatment for me. I have been on sick leave since then and need to go back to work ASAP.

Thank you for your help.

I've had this problem for over a year. After being tired of hobbling around and dealing with the pain, I finally went to a podiatrist. He xrayed my feet and gave me cortesone shots in both heels. It helped almost immediately. He also strongly suggested that I buy orthotic inserts for my shoes and wear good sneakers. The over the counter orthotics were about $45; the custom made ones are almost $400. The tendons in the bottom of your foot become tight when your arches aren't supported. If you carry extra weight, then it's even more stress on them. Add to that any bone spurs and then you have inflammation and pain. He suggested some simple exercises in the AM and PM to stretch the tendons. The combination of the shots, orthotics, and excercises have improved my feet about 90%. Good luck to you.

Use a soft pad below the tender area. If this does not help injection of hydrocortisone is given at the most tender spot. If the above measures also fails division of the plantar fascia should be done. So consult a surgeon.

I would go see a pedorthist or podiatrist to get this under control. The issues of the feet are not ones that the average GP is intimately familiar with.
In general, I would say that if you have had PF for more than 2 months, physiotherpay will not make an appreciable difference.

Stretching and Icing can make a difference along with exercises to do in the morning. Weight balancing with orthotics seems to make the difference. If these don't work, then there are other choices before surgery!
