I don't see any fleas on them at all (I think it's too cold for fleas now anyway because it's only about 40s here lately...) but they are itchy, itchy, itchy. Any ideas on what it could be or how I could help them??

could be dry skin check out walmart they have all kinds of shampoo's for this problem you just have to try one at a time to see what works and to be safe i would do a flea wash first then use the moisturizing shampoo after you rinse all the flea junk off if it doesn't seem to help or you are concerned take both or atleast one of them to the vet they could have an allergy, rash, or could have gotten into some poison ivy or something while they were outdoors

It is not a deep freeze to kill fleas so they still are can get them. Even on days when the temperture rises, they will resurface. They could have allergies. You can bath them in a anti itch doggie shampoo ; you can also give them bendryl for the itch. There is also anti itch doggie bath wipe. I use neem shampoo as well which is a natural bug repellant, antiseptic etc - you can find the information online and some people make the doggie soap with it in it , sold on ebay. Also there is dog shampoo with Neem but usually smaller dog pet shops have it. Also, have you added something different to you home that the dogs came in contact ie. rug shampoo etc , changed their food? or gave them something new ? - good luck

My Rottie suffers from dry skin in the winter and is in constant itch mood sometimes. I have to wash him with dandruff shampoo. All my dogs are well protected against fleas by the way. But the Rott just ends up getting more baths during the winter and I have to put conditioner on him. I just use Dove for that. Hope that helps!

It could be dry skin, a lot of indoor dogs get dry skin as we start up the heat in the house. Try a conditioner for dogs on them like an oatmeal based shampoo or conditioner. You could also try a coat supplement with the Omega 3s Fats. My Lab gets itchy from dry skin and allergies. I also use Sulfodene medicated anti itch shampoo on him which always elviates the itching.

If it is cold and you are running the heat they probably have dry skin. You can get a spray or just a misting bottle with water and mist them every so often till they adjust to the dry air.
If you have the fireplace going that will dry their skin out also.

Note: If you bathed them lately there is the possibility you did not get all the soap out...sorry about it being cold but you may have to rinse them again.

Dry skin is the most likely culprit.Try adding a bit more omega fatty acids to your dogs diet.Omega supplements can be bought in pet stores as sprays or powders to be added to your dogs food.Canned salmon is a great source of omegas.I feed my Lab 1/4 of a cup a day, mixed in with her food.It will help with dry skin, will help make fur shiny and soft, and in some cases can help reduce shedding a bit.

Hi...well they can still have fleas & you can't always see them so treat them for fleas anyway...if they carry on you might have a overheating problem & this can be due to a high protien leve in the food you are giving them...try to get a food that is aroung 18% to 20% protien...it will tell you on the pack what level it is...Regards Jake

fleas are not the only thing that makes dogs itch - lice too

but more often its food allergies

avoid SOY, WHEAT, CORN, BEEF, PORK, BY-PRODCUTS, and MEAT MEAL (mystery meat)

the better foods are sold at pet supply stores but not all the foods they sell are good - read the lable
Science Diet for example is CRAP but over priced becuase they PAY for vet endorsement.. a quick glance at the ingredient list is all you need
