"Achieving" anything has at its root an "expectation." Consequently, to achieve this goal, you must go about your life without any "want."

Personally, this kind of thing, what you have described in your question, has always bothered me. I "feels" not only like an expectation but an expectation on the receiving end. The underlying thought being, "If I behave in this manner then I will be loved unconditionally." Instead, why not view the word "love" in the way it is primarily meant to be viewed? It's not a noun. It is in fact a verb. Love is what you do. It is not, as a noun is defined, a "person, place or thing." It is an action. Consequently...

Address everything you do from a place of love, no matter the action, and you will come closer to what love is.

I wouldn't call it the "highest" level of love, but the "purest".

A mother's love for her children is the best way one could describe Unconditional Love (of course, as we've seen, not every mother loves her child, but that's besides the point).

Unconditional Love is when you love everyone and everything equally, regardless of who or what they are, with all their faults and without prejudice or expectations.

I have a mutually selfless unconditional giving and loving relationship with my man, and have for almost 14 years. I'm lucky.

No, it isn't. To constantly give unconditionally can be highly damaging to the individuals who receive.

The "highest" level of love is not to sit above and distribute but to stand with and share. It is through a willingness to co-operate and engage on a personal level with those around us that we best embody the spirit of love in the world.

don't expect to achieve it; aim for it and the steps will make you a better person. If we all would do this, we would make social progress...this is what Jesus' message of the "Kingdom of God" is about. It's not so much a religious idea which bennefits a few, it's a spiritual and social revolution that everyone can sign up for.

My dear, yes what you have mentioned is the highest level of love, but throughout my short experience in life, I found that only prophets are capable of it, as for me, and all natural humans, when you give love, sacrifice, and all warm and noble feelings, you should expect the same, and its fair, because one side love, is more like slow killing, in that case smoking is a better way of killing one's self without suffering the love pain.

Yes, it is. And you don't have to do anything to achieve it, it's already there, just remember and live it. Not that I remember it much either, but I do try occasionally!
