Well some go for a vast array of reasons. Some attend to gosip about the things they saw over the rest of the weekend, some go to put on the respectable facade, some go to play fashion plate, some go to show how much money they have to donate so they can feel better about themselves. And then there are those who go to experience the fellowship of likeminded individuals and feel like part of a family unit.

Well; you can get alot of reasons; I see the same ones over and over again.

WHY DO MOST STILL KEEP SUNDAY ?

Look what EZEKIEL 22:26,28 say about these people. These are some excuses for Sunday Worship.

'One says the Sabbath has been changed from the seventh to the first day of the week.'

'Another says that the Sabbath commandment requires only one day of rest after six of labor, and hence there has been no change.'

'Some reason that all ought to keep Sunday, because although, as they affirm, God did not appoint a particular day, yet aggreement is necessary; and to have any or every day a sabbath would be equal to no sabbath at all.'

'Others, to avoid the claim of God's law, assert that the Sabbath precept is one of those ordinances which was against us, contrary to us, blotted out, and nailed to the cross. Still they admit a day of rest and convocation is necessary, and therefore the day of Christ's resurrection, they say has been chosen.'

'Another class say they believe it is impossible to know which is the seventh day, although they have no difficuty in locating the first.'

'Some are so bold as to declare that Sunday is the original seventh day.'

'Others, with equal certainity, say that those who keep the seventh day are endeavoring to be justified by the law, and are fallen from grace.'

'Another class, with more liberal views, say they believe that every one should be fully persuaded in his own mind, whether he keep this day, or that, or none at all.'

'Still again, as if having found the great disideratum or missing link in the argument, men credited with even more than ordinary intelligence, will sometimes declare that it is impossible to keep the seventh day on a round and rolling earth; yet, strangely, they find no difficulty in keeping Sunday anywhere, and believe that this day should be observed the world over!'

You are correct as A Seventh Day Adventist Christian yes the Seventh Day of the week IS Saturday, in fact when the world was first made, evening and morning were the first day, evening and morning were the second day, its in the first chapter of Gen. not only is the first day of creation 24 hours long, sundown to sundown is how God counts as A day the midnight to midnight is A man thing. Speaking of A man thing, nothing personal to anyones relationship with God, the papcy, that is the pope, the catholic church is the folks that started the sunday worship, it honors the day of the SUN not the SON, thanks for bringing this up, free bible lessons www.itiswritten.com God bless, EMAIL not messanger me also wgr88@yahoo.com also bible anwers www.bibleinfo.com hay why not visit A Seventh Day Adventist Church in your area NEXT "SABBATH".

Hi, this might be a controversial and delicate subject. However, with God's help, am going to answer honestly. I don't mean to be rude or anything, so it's not my intention to offend anybody, but if anyone gets offended, please let me know. I'm honest, it's not my intention to "attack" anybody.

It's claimed that Jesus changed the Sabbath day when He resurrected. However, we don't find in the Bible anything that allows this change neither Jesus said that His resurrection changed the Sabbath day or made sunday holy.

Others say that Christians are not longer to worship on a single day, but everyday is a Sabbath, or just pick any day you want as the Sabbath. The Bible does not mean that either. God said, "Remember the Sabbath day" (Exodus 20:8). He didn't say remember a Sabbath day. If He would have said "a Sabbath", then we could pick any day we want. But He said "Remember the Sabbath day". We should have quality time with God by studying His Word and praying everyday; however, the Sabbath day is special for God. In any day of the week, we spend time with God, but we have to work too, which sometimes gets our attention. God wants a 24-hour-day with us. From the seven days of the week, God has taken one to have quality time with us the 24 hours. That's why Genesis 2:2,3 tells us that God blessed the Seventh day and sanctified it. By sanctifying it, He separated it from the rest of the days. The Commandment says "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy". We didn't make the Sabbath holy, God did. All we have to do is to keep it holy because it is already holy.

Some good and honest people have forgotten this, and they worship on the day they were taught by their parents or church. God accepts a true and honest worship, whether it is on sunday or any other day. But He expects us that, once we discover the Sabbath truth, we go for it. My birthday is on November. If a friend of mine bakes me a cake to celebrate my birthday on October, I wouldn't get mad, beause I would appreaciate her intention. But what should I think if, after I tell her that my bithday is in November, she keeps celebrating it on October or any other day out of November? Obviously, I'd appreciate her good inention the first time because she didn't really know when my birthday was; but after I "reveal" her my birthday, I'd expect her to celebrate on that day.

There's another popular argument. "Sabbath was part of the Mosaic law and as Christians we're not longer to keep it because that law was done away". The Mosaic law was nailed to the Cross, it's true. But the Sabbath day was not part of the Mosaic laws. The Mosaic laws had yearly sabbaths, and other kind of sabbaths. But the Sabbath of the Ten Commandments is a weekly Sabbath, the Seventh-day. The Ten Commandment Law and the Mosaic law are two separate laws.

For example:

Who wrote the Ten Commandments?

"And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God." (Exodus 31:18)

"And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables." (Exodus 32:16)

Whose writing was the one of the law of Moses?

"Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers; so that they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses." (2 Chronicles 33:8)

Two Laws --the Mosaic law, or ceremonial law; and God's Law, or Ten Commandment Law. One was nailed to the Cross, but the other one wasn't. If the Ten Commandment Law still abide today, then so does the Sabbath. The Sabbath day of the Bible is the Seventh day.

well there are a lot of different schools of thought on that one. I think maybe some people go to atone and seek forgiveeness for their excesses and excuses during the other 6 days, and some go in true gratitude for what little or lot they have. and maybe alot go because they are scared and need to believe that there is still something that is going to bring this world back to sanity, even if it means believing in an unseen unheard from entity, for some its better than having no hope at all I guess.

I go to church on Sunday because that's when the service is held at my church. I usually attend early mass. The reason I go is simple - I am a sinner and feel the need for spiritual guidance and emotional healing that I receive (and hopefully give back). I don't feel that a person has to attend church to be a good person.
Peace be with you!

I go every Sunday because it helps bring me peace. The day of the week doesn't realy matter. We go on Sunday because that's the day we go. Could just as easy be Tuesday. The point is to stop every seven days and focus. I go because that's where I find my way for the rest of the week.

I don't call the building people worship at a "church". It's my opinion that the people are the "church", and people can gather together ANYWHERE to praise, testify, and worship about the goodness and realness of God in their lives. Where people meet, I call "place of worship" because that's a big part of why they are together there anyway.

King James Version, Book of Matthew, Chapter 18, verses 19-20 states:

19Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

20For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

I mention this because I'm getting at this being my belief as to what people get out of it. It's not stupid that I enjoy the company of people who believe in God, no matter religion they subscribe to believing in. I look for people who believe in ONE God that's Universal. Period. I'm sorry you believe that's stupid.

Sunday is the last day of the week, where people have no work and social pressure..it shall be a day dedicated to God, where all christians must go to God's house on earth (church) and pay a holy sacred visit and re-fresh their relation with him.Going to church on sunday is kind of a great dedication for a christian, where he meets his God ,gets his blessings and thanks him for what he is supporting him with.

Perhaps it's not what you get out of it but rather what you put into it. His Word says to not forsake the assembling of the saints (Hebrews 10:24) for fellowship and exhortation.

If you prefer Saturday then go on Saturday.
