As a mom of an ADHD child, NO they don't "eat constantly." Now as a mom of 3 children, 18yrs. down to 9yrs. I can also tell you, some kids in general have to eat constantly. I don't know what she is feeding him but I do know from dieticians to feed my kids protien at all meals and snacks, if he is eating a lot of carbs, he is burning through it too fast. It will also attribute to some of the hyperness. I heard a report and tried it myself and this works, I feed them pancakes, bacon and eggs for breakfast and I am sure to make more bacon and eggs so it is lots of protien. I was feeding them 75% less sugar and thought I was doing good until I switched. My son has more endurance during the day, does homework without fuss now, ect. Even his teacher called and said she noticed a difference when I started with more protien and less "bad" carbs. I give them "good" carbs now, fruit and vegetables. I stay out of the aisles, I get fresh fruit and vegetabled, meats, cheese, I don't do canned veggies, or fruit, too much bad sugar and preservatives. It really does make a HUGE diference. Have her try it for 2 weeks and just see what happens. Good luck.

As a ways as I recognise, you can not MEDICALLY PROVE ADHD/ADD....it is a sequence of 'sypmtoms' and 'behaviors' and when you have sufficient of them at the record, THERE you move, out of the blue you have got a MEDICAL obstacle. There is no person definitive blood experiment or experiment so that they can screen the 'disease.' It's a mixture of mothers and fathers now not parenting, diets, perservatives, hormones and components in meals, atmosphere, and loss of creativity and help within the tuition method to aid those children who want it. Public tuition is approximately MANY matters earlier than it's approximately schooling. The academics and directors have such a lot strain to move this requirement and so on (instructional materials and qualifications slapped down so as to make upgrades within the colleges that do not anything however take the recognition clear of high-quality schooling.) If they get a child who could want somewhat additional concentration or demands aid seeing that they study greater being taught an extra process, there may be with ease no time, attempt, or help for/from the instructor and tuition method. Plus, then that child is disruptive, and the instructor can not even do what they have been going to do.... I had a instructor inform me that probably my son used to be displaying a few Attention Defecit Disorder seeing that I instructed her that I noticed him recognition closely whilst he used to be interested by a discipline, and feature crisis focusing whilst he wasn't excited approximately anything. So the realization then is that ALL KIDS recognition good ON ALL topics? That's ridiculous.... Anyway, I feel there are a few actual patients of ADHD and ADD, however usually it's over identified and used as a crutch by means of each mothers and fathers and colleges who lack the vigor, help and assets to handle the conduct in additional functional and average methods, like first replacing vitamin and exercises at residence.

I have a son with adhd and I don't think your sisters bf's son is eating like this so much as from the adhd as he is a growing boy. Yes my son eats constantly from the time he gets up till he goes to bed and walks in the door from school starving. Your sister can go with more fruits as snacks to cut out some of the sugar which might make him fill up faster not to mention it feeds the adhd. Boys in general tend to eat more than a girl and burn it off faster. Tell her to pop popcorn and keep it handy, carrot sticks, apple slices things that are cheaper but more easily accessed. I know how she feels abut the milk I go through a gallon a day here but I have started keeping water in the fridge and other juice drinks that can help some as well. You can go on just about any adhd website and it will give you samples of diets that are good for them. As for the additives one responder spoke of it isn't only msg but many foods (snacks) with Red dye and a lot of starch and sugar are big no no's. Protien is the key not a quick filer upper. Pasta's are good but a lot of starch which leads to burning it off quicker in a high metabolism child same with red meats, try fixing more pork and chicken dishes.

Believe it or not, but there is a food additive that this kid is eating that might be causes this ADHD. My husband and I suffered with this as well. Anyway, if the foods that this child is eating are full of MSG this might be the cause of the disease. Get the book: Cures They Don't Want You To Know About. When my husband and I started taking fish oil supplements our ADHD has greatly improved. I also try not to eat as much MSG.

hyperactive children burn a lot of calories. They are constantly moving. So yes, they will require more food to keep up with their high energy level. There are medications to help control the high energy level and allow the child to focus. Unfortunately, there isn't much that can be done about the amount of food he requires. He will begin to lose weight if he does not eat enough to replenish the energy he uses.

I'm ADHD and I only have a few cravings every once in a while... I usually have no appetite and only weigh 100 lbs. BUT if you give me something I really like, I'll eat it until I can't stuff it in.

I have ADHD and I don't eat constantly. Being hyper can make one burn through a few more calories than normal people, but it sounds like this kid has another underlying metabolic problem.

I wonder what type of foods he's eating? Are there plenty of wholegrains? Brown rice instead of white, Wholemeal bread (not just white or white with grains) Wholemeal pasta. Low GI foods burn slower and provide more energy.
