So what brand of christianity do you pertain to hold if you act like that and brag about it? Why not teach them the truth you say you have and turn them around if you feel they are wrong?

This observance has always baffled me.

Some christians are nice and will listen or at least be polite but I have known and read on here of christians that belittle rather than upbuild. Why would I join such a faith that it's followers act like that?

So wendy b how does your religion get your message to me? You say you have salvation and the knowledge of God. So how do you sow the seeds of that to me. I do not go to church, I don't consider God. My family do not go to church. Never really thought about it. Maybe I heard things about your church that I should avoid.

So you won't come to me and tell me about your faith and open my eyes so explain what part in the ministry do you partake in? I am am an unrepentant sinner so why are you not coming to me to my door and give me warning about my ways are wicked and God is my salvation?
Why are you keeping this all to yourself how making yourself a disciple of God?
Or are you just happy with your lot and that is it?

You are more bothered about being bothered for 5 minutes then why not use that time to show Jehovah's Witnesses from your bible the fallacy of their faith?
I mean you have that knowledge don't you?
Tell me after I reading your post that yes it is your faith I should be looking at, you have given me that encouragement to look deeper into what you said.

It seems to me that some respondents that religion is just a badge you take off when you go home not a personality you were. If you are not gracious even long suffering and respectful, even if you are in a middle of a meal or bath then I am sorry their is something lacking in your faith and if you act so aggressively and think in that way then I have no incentive in your faith.
I certainly wouldn't exect the disciples to act in such a way and that is how I would recognise a true christian religion by the fruits of it's followers. You claim to be of a religion then you wear that religion and you represent that religion at all times.
If you are harsh and angry at people who see you then as a representive of your religion you are showing what it stands for.

I think it is because the people are ignorant and don't know the truth. They may have been deceived into thinking they have the truth, inspite of their actions. When they came to my house I thought I was going to get rid of them real fast, I didn't know they knew the scriptures better than I did. They left me some magazines and I found out they were very interesting. Then I wanted to find out more about them. Still finding out after over 4 months.

I don't think it is just Christians who perform this behavior, I believe it might average out to be some of every religion or none religion. You appear to some people like telemarketers on the phone. You come not invited and disrupt people's time. You approach in a way that is somewhat intrusive. If you are a Jehovah Witness, consider this, how do you feel about telemarketers, how do you feel about door to door salesmen ? Be honest with yourself. I know religions are supposed to witness, but i believe sometimes the approach is important. ANd I feel when they come to my door they try to force their materials on me and sometimes in sneaky ways. They also leave pamphlets on my porch and i deeply resent that. If everyone with a cause left pamphlets on my porch, I couldn't get in the front door ! Your treatment by others may come from your original behavior and may be considered intrusive. Do you feel comfortable when some tries to keep selling you on their ideas when you have already said no and they just keep on talking whether it be religion or anything. I don't. Maybe this will give you some insight. Christians may have a stronger reaction because they have a belief that is much different than yours and when they are at first polite and then you are rude by continuing after they have said NO, you gain a reputation of being pushy and you disregard other people's responses.

I've seen too many so-called "Christians" also treat other Christians that are not Jehovah's Witnesses rudely, making fun of their writing, putting down their questions, etc. on these boards and others--unless they're posting in an area specifically meant for posting against Jehovah's Witnesses' beliefs and practices. In a way, it's good some "Christians" are rude to whomever. It helps sort out who the real Christians are.

18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.

And I don' t think it can be excused by saying that people of other faiths and no faith do it too. (Or that some Muslims fight terror jihads.) "Christians" are supposed to be following certain standards clearly outlined in the Bible. If they often do otherwise, do they qualify as Christians?

If someone comes to your door that you don't want to talk too, be it campaigners, salesmen, Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses, all that needs to be done is say there's no interest and excuse oneself. (A home normally has a working front door, too. ) Most salesmen who've come to my door have been far more persistent than any Jehovah's Witnesses I ever spoke with.

maybe because some christians (or anyone for that matter) don't like to be disturbed in the middle of their meals, baths, their own private worship time, or anything they may be doing to have someone trying to cram their religion down there throat. Mormon's are just as bad, if not worse.
It's great that the word of God is being spread out into the world but you can't blame this behavior on just christians. When a witness goes to a door, the person answering doesn't have christian written on them. Some of these people you are talking about are agnostics, atheists, scientologists, wiccans, pagans, catholics,... the list goes on and on.

Wendy b has the perfect explaination.

in response t additional details.:
We don't try to show you our bibles or teach you of our religions because you don't want to hear it. you argue why your beliefs are better. Jesus taught the way of god to anyone willing to recieve it...he did not stick his foot in peoples doors forcing it upon them.

I have always tried to be polite, but I have often met with rudeness from Jehovah's Witnesses. The way some of them seem to think they have a claim on my time, never apologize when I answer the door with bathrobe and wet hair... It was unintentional bad manners I am sure. Other JWs have been very courteous. But I think experiences like this influence some people to be rude.
Another source of serious resentment is the way Jehovah's Witnesses come between people in their families and friends. JWs will not attend even a mother's funeral if the mother is not a JW. I had a close friend who became a Jehovah's Witness, and after that she wasn't my friend anymore. I disagreed with her religion, but I didn't reject her personally. In fact, she didn't belong to my religion even before she became JW, and we were good friends.
Your question sounded sincere, so I am giving you a sincere answer.

People are people. Be it a Christian, Jew, Muslim, Hindu or any other religion. Fault not the religion; instead, the blame lies with a person. For example, there are those Muslim who commit terrorist acts under the pretense of Jihad (i.e. a holy war). Does it mean all Muslims are terrorists? No. The vast vast majority of Muslims do not support violence what so ever.

It sounds like you had some bad run in's with some Christians. So have I. I like to think that they are in the minority and the majority of Christians are not so judgemental. Remember, you are worshipping God not people.

The truth is that many christian only treat their faith as a badge and not clothe themselves in a christ like personality as you said.
Some of the comments I read here by people claiming to be christians I wish they tell me what church they belong so I can avoid it like the plague.
Christ never acted in such a way even to people of other religions. Christ always seasoned his words with salt unlike the comments by a lot of people here saying I am christian.
I cannot apologise for your behavior because if that is your way of following christ then you are doing it badly.
A christ like christian is always kind, listening and teaching and prepared to be open and ALWAYS respectful of other people's beliefs even if they approach you with them. That is a christ like attitude. To always show love.
A lot of people respect Jehovah's Witnesses more than most church people because they are helpful, gracious, and charitable and care and concern themselves with the welfare and care of their congregations as well as other people.
You think it is easy for them to do the ministry work into the world? No, but they obey God utmost rather do their own will to witness to all the nations. They recognise they will be hated by the nations and expect some people to behave with hatred as Jesus said, the world will hate his followers as they hated him first.
Churches are lying mostly empty and the world has become more secular because of the attitudes and lack of respect that a lot of so called christians show the world. A lot of people who are not christians read your posts and frankly I wouldn't be suprised they think you as hypocrites and selfish only interested in yourselves. Big deal some people want to witness at your door for maybe 5 mins and give you a magazine - hardly shoving it down your throat compared to the hypocrisy you shove on here.
The Jehovah Witnesses are growing strongly because people can see how they are unwaivering in following God's words that they obey God rather than men. People have found real hope with healthy Bible teachings and see the example they make.
Kingdom Halls being built globally and are bustling places of activity while churches are becoming emptier echoing halls. I been to all and I cetainly know the difference and what a refreshment it is to be around people who clothe themselves in a christian personality. People are turned off religion by the very attitudes some of you posters have typed and hardly any wonder.

Because some claiming to be Christian are only claiming with their mouth and not heart felt actions. Most JW are not open minded so it's hard to share much with them. But, that being said, they need to be treated in a kind and loving, and respectful way. That's how I treat them and I'm a Christian.
The whole world has hypocratic people, you can't really avoid them they're everywhere that you go.
What you choose to believe is up to you and only you!

I have never been overtly rude to them, I simply tell them I already have a religion I am comfortable with and take their fliers , thank them and then sit down and read the fliers. Nothing wrong with being nice, even If it is my opinion that they are mislead.
