It's mostly orange with a moderately long coat, and probably white feet, stomach, and muzzle. I'm absolutely in love with this dog, but I can't find the breed's name anywhere!

Could be several breeds, the first to come to mind is the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, because they are always that color.

Also could be a Springer Spaniel, A red Siberian Husky, Akita, Border Collie, Australian Shepherd, Collie, Sheltie,Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Chinese Foo dog, English or Dutch Shepherd, Corgi, or a few others. Does the dog you are interested in have a long or short tail? About what size? Small, Medium, Large? Does it have short legs? Do its ears prick up or lay down? Give us a little more info, and I'm sure you can find your answer.

Underdog, my orange & white longish-coated dog, turned out to be a Lurcher, which is a Gypsy hunting breed based on a cross between sighthounds (greyhounds or Scottish deerhounds) and terriers such as the Bedlington. He is deep-chested and long-toed like a greyhound and has a Dr. Suess tassle of hair between his eyes that stands up a couple of inches and then curls.. He is smaller that a greyhound but still fairly tall, slender but with very muscular thighs, and this dog is FAST. His coat is like coarse silk and odorless, and his teeth are so sharp he can scissor cloth with them without fraying it. Lurchers were illegal for most of their history, (they are called 'the greatest of the illicit hunting dogs' by which is meant poaching, a capital crime at one time) and are bred to be low profile and hard to catch, but they are not timid. Most Lurchers are grey but the orange/white pattern is good camoflage too and also an orange/white dog could become a grey dog overnight if Sheriff John came prowling around looking for the orange dog reported poaching rabbits in the King's hedgerow, so I suspect orange/white might be more common than was admitted. If you've got a Lurcher, you are lucky. Underdog is my responsible, clownish,.sentimental Gypsy boy and has never once in his life disobeyed me when he understood what I wanted. He watches over my Pugs and my house, and although i've never hunted him, I have no doubt he'd be able to bring in several rabbits a day if there was need and of course available rabbits. Lurchers are not AKC but a web search will give you an idea of their look as well as their history. Lurcher or not, it sounds like you've got a fine dog.

The only breed I can think that is an orange color with white feet would be a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.

Hi--more info and I could prob. help.

How big is the dog? 30 pounds? 80? Is it really tall and slender or short and blocky?

Is the coat soft or harsh?

The AKC has a picture guide to the breeds they recognize at www.akc.org but it doesn't show all the possible colors so you would need to look for the right shape dog.

AKC doesn't list all breeds---and if it is a rare breed you'll have to look elsewhere.

Post more info and I'll try to help you find it if its a rare breed

Way too vague on the description. Hw big, weighing how much? What do you mean "orange" - as in glow in the dark orange or a pale-oranage cold?

Go here and look at all 150 breeds:

What makes you think it's any one particular breed? More than likely it's a mixed breed.....a one of a kind. :-)

If you could post a link to a pic of your dog, it would help a lot.....but the best thing is to ask your veterinarian when you take it in for its routine checkup (which should be ASAP if you just got the dog.)

As someone else said above...it sounds like a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retreiver.

You sure it's not a fox?! I've never heard of a dog like that!

Good luck finding its breed!

Do you mean a Jindo? My dog Cookie is a Jindo - they really are beautiful, but don't make good family pets.
