Yes they can. The MP could have issued you a DD Form 1408 Citation. Which assesses points on your USAREUR License.

You are in USAREUR and fall under the SOFA agreement. The MP's have full authority over all personnel that fall under the SOFA Agreement.

13 BangBang : You are correct the SOFA is not for Traffic Enforcement. However: The SOFA does allow all MP's to have jurisdiction over all USAREUR personnel. The MP's are authorized to make traffic stops on all USAREUR plated vehicles anywhere in Germany. ON or OFF post. it does not matter where as long as it is a USAREUR plated vehicle. German plated vehicles can be stopped only on post or if in the comission of a crime. Stick with the Fire Missions.

Probably done as a courtesy to make you aware you were breaking the law off-post where he had no jurisdiction.

I hope you thanked him for letting you know and not just calling the locals who'd have given you a ticket or even revoked your driving priviledges. Traffic laws are more strict in countries other than the USA.

thrilling question. on the grounds that he did no longer value ticket you i'm particular he grew to become into doing you a desire. one ought to check out the job of the militia police in Germany as protecting the peace and ensuring good kin with the German inhabitants, So sure he could have been able to value ticket you, or pull you over and characteristic the German police value ticket you. the two way you offered off subject-free.

Well, I guess he could pull you over and ADVISE you that you were going to fast only from a safety standpoint. But unless the MPs had made some jurisdiction agreement with the local poilizi (unlikely). They can't efforce anything!

since he didn't try to give you a ticket, I would let it go. He probably can't technically pull you over, but there are some battle not worth fighting.

No he can't. SOFA does not cover enforcing traffic rules off post. That is not what SOFA is designed for.
