It was indeed in one large portion of my body: my right hip to my right foot. It started in an injury (as is almost always the case) where I fell through shoddy bleachers. I was on crutches and could NOT stand to put weight on my leg or foot. The doctors were convinced the leg was broken and took x-ray after x-ray, finding nothing. Meanwhile the deep purple (deep tissue) bruising finally left and after about six weeks, my foot swelled up, turned red and looked like a raw sausage. It was painful and terrible. I had a wonderful friend (who has since passed on - bless him) who was the P.A. at the clinic. He diagnosed it and immediately sent me to physical therapy. This has been many, many years ago. I still do exercises for keeping it in line. The only med I take (other than an occasional aspirin if the pain is really bad) now, is a small dose of elavil to help keep my sleep regulated. Hard to sleep if one entire side of your lower body hurts - roll on the right side and that's it for the night! They have found low doses of the tri-cyclics to help and I know it has helped with me. Good luck to you, find a doctor who knows what they are doing and you will be fine. I live a normal life and am very physical in my job, so I have to take care of myself. You'll find a way to do the same.
