A bible? Candles? Hymns? Meditation?

It's all about the music for me.... The choir. the hymns.. chanting. whatever. Music is the prayer of the heart.

Our church has been without a pastor since about June. I used to believe that a pastor was there just to lead the congregation in worship, that he wasn't "essential" to the worship experience. We have had various guest speakers since he left, but somehow it just isn't the same. I do realize that worship is a 24/7 thing, and that church is a place where people gather usually once a week to worship together, but since we lost our pastor it just hasn't been the same for me. I have met someone at work that goes to the church I used to go to when I was a kid, and I believe God is calling me to return there. All this being said, a pastor or priest brings it all together for me to share my worship with others.

I try to pray on my knees, in a private place, with incense, candles usually. with raji shankars sitar music playing, with sometimes my hand raised, eyes closed, and sometimes a Buddhist chant, sometime an Eckankar word Huuuu. or an AMMMM. sometimes a Christian simple prayer for friends and family and the world.there our no necessity's,My life is a prayer. that way the spirit of gods guidance is with me and I am attuned to it, and hear the voice of the spirit, and am guided by it, and miracles happen all the time and I praise god and rejoice in the spirit. Peace

The absolute necessity for me. Having the presence of the Lord. Music is nice, prayer is awesome. For we enter His gates with thanksgiving and praise. But without it being to God, it wouldn't be for anything to me.

be blessed.

You also asked about the church, right? Actually the only thing necessary for worship is what is with me always; love of God and gratitude for His son, and what He has done in my life. I need nothing else but to call up in my mind and heart the transformation He has done in my life, and the lives of those I love and pray for. Of course...listening to some smokin' praise and worship music helps to joyfully sing His praises!

Anymore, it's very difficult for me to get in a proper mood without nag champa incense burning. Way too much time spent in Buddhist monasteries.

Silence, champa or white sage and candles. Incense and candles are my extras to help me focus but silence is a must for me. I need to connect with myself before I attempt connection with a higher being.
